Borresen C1 two-way standmounts

Searched but honestly didn’t find many talking about their experience with Borresen and Naim.

At Ansuz (same owner group as Borresen) they have demo rooms with a curtain in front of the system so people shall guess the size of the system. Behind is a small Naim system and book shelf speakers with Ansuz cables and people are very surprised about its performance. The Audio Group Denmark have at least in the past admired what Naim is doing and are one of a few companies that offer DIN cables for Naim systems. Today I’ve heard they think Naim is compromising bit too much.

That was with other electronics; I did not notice precisely. No gear I fell in love with, which impressed me still more, being induced to think that with Naim gear, it would still stand out further.

I make the assumption that on the most expensive units, Borresen select the upscale Scanspeak LS or equivalent competition (very expensive components). Plus filter plus conception.

Thanks for that info Blackbird, I didn’t know that.

Have a look at my extensive thread about Børresen replacing Naim Speakers:

Quick update.

Had a few listening sessions last couple of days, still without the speakers fully dialed in perfect position.

I’m listening for character, dynamics and tonality.

I’m extremely impressed and to put it bluntly, they stomp on Spendors.
It’s a totally different character but much more than just a lateral move. I’m not the best at explaining sound characteristics, but here we have a neutral character, with so much clarity and details but well-balanced tonality. It’s a crisp sound without any brightness. There is such a strong sense of space and openness, real airiness and dimensionality.

In short, high level of realism, lifelike and immersive.

My wife heard only a couple of songs before saying “you have a green light”.
She had some second thoughts on the aesthetics, but the design grew on her.

My friends including one audiophile were impressed from the first song heard.

I just look forward to more listening sessions! My wallet not so much

This sounds just like how would describe their Ansuz cables :+1: Would love to hear those speakers in my system  I really recommend you trying Ansuz cables on your system. They are replacing the 2-series now for the new 3-series so some good deals are available.

I’ll take your advice for sure and I’ll demo a PowerSwitch X-TC3 and some Ansuz ethernet cables. I’ll also try some speaker cables, I need to check what the distributor has.

Spendor D7.2 - £5,650
Borresen C1 - £12,499

The Borresen looks nice. I just realise the C1 is the middle in the range as there are models that cost significantly higher. I wonder how do the Borresen compare to Marten speakers. I have the Duke 2 and they sound very satisfying. I’m sure the C1s will sound even more captivating in their own ways judging from how much they cost.

Enjoy~

Thanks ryder. :+1:

I heard both Marten Oscar Duo and Mingus Septet a few weeks ago at the same show as Borresen.
Can you believe, Oscar was presented in a too large room, and Mingus was in a too small room. :man_facepalming:
Even though a friend of mine speaks very highly of Marten, needless to say, I wasn’t impressed with that performance.

Furthermore, there isn’t a Marten distributor in my country so it would be a hassle for me to get a demo unit.

Gorgeous looking and I’m sure sounding speakers @SRO !
Given it’s price, how do you compare U-588 all in one to Aavik separates and Naim separates?

i never had a really higher level naim system, 282, ndx2, 250dr and hicaps, but i’ve heard up to the statement at my dealers. for me naim are a very exciting listen, probably too exciting for me. it always seemed like i was being “punched in the face”, kind of rough and ready. i also really don’t like the minimal control over the volume. you seem to only be able to use between 8 an 11 for volume. just not as clean and defined as aavik for me.

aavik on the other hand have the blackest background you can imagine, i think a much more refined presentation, beautiful clairty, tightness and soundstage. control of the presentation is second to none i’ve experienced. they can be beautifully soft and emotional or offer all the prat you can imagine. also the build quality is vastly superior to naim.

i had aavik 280 seperates. they were just lovely and the sounded great, they did everything right. i wanted to simplify my system as i am getting older 70+ and have some arthritis, so moving, cleaning etc. multiple boxes was becoming a chore. i wanted a unit that would simplify but also sound as good as the seperates. the u-588 fit the need. it is a beautifully functional component that sounds at least as good and probably better than the seperates in regard to soundstage, blackness and detail. even at it’s price i think it’s all many will ever need and should be heard when considering any solution.

Many thanks for your insight @SRO. I cannot wait to hear the U-588, my dealer also said it sounds better than 280 separates which is absolutely crazy. Enjoy!

Wow, beautiful ‘Danish Audio Company’ system

How did you get to this point?

it’s actually Audio Group Denmark. Danish Audio Company is NOT involved. how did i get here? great dealer, listening and investigating alternatives.

Yes, I do and I highly recommend the Ansuz stuff like cables, switch and resonance control.

Well, I pulled the trigger, traded in my Spendors and C1s are now rocking and sounding wonderful!
I also picked up Ansuz PowerSwitch X-TC3 with powered D2 ethernet cable and some Darkz C2t decouplers to try out under the 332.
I’m a happy camper!
