There is always 500 kit for sale, its been around that long now, that you will get many reasons why the owners are selling it.

I could go out now, and in an hour or so return home with a full 500 system, either secondhand or new.

I’m about to make the leap and let my 552 / 500 go…

I have a KDSM3 and tried the Linn Klimax 500’s via my fantastic dealer last week and whilst they had mega power and scale, they didn’t captivate me or make music with my YG Ascent speakers like I’d have wanted. MUCH more impressive was a Burmester 218 power amp with 088 pre - this was exceptionally musical, hugely powerful and no ‘hardening up’ of the sound with a bit of volume as with the NAP500, and the pre actually has a great phono stage for the Acutus record player; so that’s four boxes with the stage too that I’m losing, plus loads of chord cabling…

Did you try the Naim 350’s with the Linn KDSM?
My end game system, achieved just weeks ago, is all Linn (Selekt DSM, LP12, 150’s, see profile for full description) driven by the marvellous Naim NAP350’s.
It’s simply sublime and well worth a test/demo.

I didn’t in the end, I could have, but ended up with the Burmester as the KDSM analogue input did not sound so good as a dedicated pre-amp handling the vinyl playback side of things…

I resolved that particular issue by having an Urika 2 installed in my LP12 and connecting it to the the DSM using Linn Exact tech.
