Brennenstuhl Mains Block vs Olson

I am quite sure you are right drago however if it’s so difficult to get hold of then I loose interest

I’m looking forward to getting my Olson block

Anyone else using Olson’s?

If you can takes pics of the internals that would be great.

Were you referring to me MrFixit? I will definitely be looking into the internals of the Olson once I receive it

I believe the Olson’s are built very well which is why I purchased one

I’ve ordered a 10 way angled socket unit without the neon light and no switch but with a 2m mains lead/plug as a special product

This is the Olson block that I’m going to order

Having spoken to Olson they are able to supply this without the neon light… So no switches or lights upsetting the feed… well that’s the theory

I honestly can’t believe I need a 10 way unit but a quick tot up of tv, soundbar, Virgin, turntable, amp, Blueray, streamer etc etc… it’s a lot of power needed

Final price will be around £150 + shipping I guess

The final price was £165 including shipping for a UK made 10 way angled mains block which I think is a bit of a bargain

I’ve just asked Olson to include a screened mains cable to be added to my block… don’t know how much extra that’s going to cost but don’t think it will be too much

Have you considered the Dr Oetker powerblock? A good value.

Buy whatever is available. It is just a power distribubutor.

I have a large Brennenstuhl, but I will not open it.

I’ll stick with my Shunyata Denali it’s not cheap.

Olson’s have not charged me any extra, for this order, for a screened mains cable

I’ve told Olson that it’s possible that I can get them some extra business maybe via this forum

The Olson mains blocks look amazingly well made without the ‘hifi’ logo on them to add to the price

Olson do make a ‘Sound Fantastic’ hifi mains block but I’m not keen on the RFI filter, earthline choke etc, etc… plus it’s only available as a max 8 way which isn’t enough for my needs

I decided to order an angled 10 way from them but did add a screened mains cable… special order without any switches or neon lights

The specification looks great on the block I’ve ordered… it’s quite heavy too

Graham’s Hydra. Better than any power strip.

In the 80’s, yes.

No idea what that’s supposed to mean.

Me either MD

I will report when I receive the Olson block

During the late eighties the Hydra was recommended by Naim. At that time audiophile powerblocks didn’t existed.
Today’s they are many that outperform the Hydra, and still match the Naim sound characteristics. For example the Chord S6 and M6, the Music Works.
I have personally the Furutech TP60 . 20 years ago i begun with the Nietschle, the one recommended by Naim.

I chose a properly made UK unit

To me anything that has filters etc just don’t work that well for hifi

I just wanted a well made block and if it’s also made in the UK then that’s a bonus which is why I chose the Olson

There’s no filter inside the powerblocks I mentioned.
I won’t however, in your case, buy a powerblock costing the same as the electronics, the XS3 .
Just responded to Mike who wrote the Hydra is the best.

Then the Chord S6 and M6 are made in UK, as the Music Works . The Furutech in Japan.

I’ve chosen my Olson because it looks very solidly built and cost very little; nowhere near the value of my XS3 or any other part of my system FR…I think the Olson is very good value

The Chord units are roughly £1k and Music Works about the same and that’s a crazy amount

I don’t doubt on that. Enjoy!
