Doing a factory reset on my Muso Qb 2 has bricked it. It is completely unresponsive, showing only a flashing red LED.
I have approached Naim through my dealer but they are only repairing ones that are still under warranty. Mine is out of warranty so I’m currently stuck with a newish (less than three years old) expensive box that doesn’t work
Can anyone suggest how or where I might be able to get this repaired ? I’m in the UK
Have you tried unplugging it from the wall and leaving it for 10 minutes before plugging it back in?
If the simple act of resetting it has killed it, for Naim to suggest you effectively chuck it out seems most odd. If the above suggestion doesn’t work, I’d call Naim Support for guidance.
Most dealers have contracts with local electrical repair shops for working on out of warranty gear that the manufacturer won’t touch or is cost prohibitive to get done officially.
Have you approached a local dealer? They don’t need to be Niam dealer.
According to the Naim website, the UK warranty on Mu-So products is 2 years on new products or 1 year on refurbished products. Extended warranty is not available in the UK on Mu-Sos or CI kit.
I called Naim support who ran me through the slightly involved process of doing a flash reset. Which has worked ! Yay. Thanks for the suggestion @HungryHalibut.
A lesson learnt is that to connect to a new wifi network all you need to do is quickly press the pin hole. Safer than a long press as I had been doing
Last week my aunt informed me that the qb2 she’d had on loan from me, that she ran hard wired from her router had packed up out of the blue. It was appearing in the app and the app showed it playing but there was no sound from the box nor any lights whatsoever. Power cycling it didn’t change anything so I took it home and left it in its box while I contacted Naim support by email, who asked me to check the indicator on the back. I plugged it in not expecting anything to happen but it lit up and set up in the app first time, seems to play all right too. Either it has an intermittent fault or a longer time unpowered has done the trick. Tomorrow I’ll try it hard wired, just to check, before I take it back to her.
The Mu-So uses embedded Linux, so the pin-hole reset is a nice clean refresh of the operating system settings. This is often the remedy for similar IOT devices like routers, STBs and other embedded Linux devices
