Cable conundrum.

Is it possible to link my 282 to my headphones amp with a 5-pin DIN to RCA phono cable?

I see there are three “input/output” sockets. How are the seperate functions differentiated, DIN plug wiring?

The FAQ should help

As above but you will be able to see the pin assignments for the din sockets on the 282 (or any pre-amp model) from the manual diagrams that show the rear of the amp and the socket types.

An old-fashioned Naim to tape drive (4 RCA plugs) will work just use the output plugs but a Naim Din to RCA (two RCA plugs) interconnect will also work if you modify with a bit of soldering the Din end to connect to the output channels instead of the input.

With my XS3 I had a cable made up with wires soldered to the “out” pins in the DIN socket.

Worked well in my setup. Nice because you can even have two outputs from the Nac282 to your headphone amp and easily switch for instance between streaming and vinyl.

In the end, i ended up not using the Nac282 as an headphone amp output because the cables i had were not good enough i think (i had AQ Sydney) and it sounds better using the balanced XLR connection of my DAC to my headphone amp directly.
