Cable Lifters

Having watched a You Tube video on Cable Lifters and looking at the the price of some of them I decided to make some for myself to see if they have any impact on the sound from my system.

Make sure you do a blind comparison…

@Steve2 Years ago I tried a variety with Cardas speaker cable when I had Ayre gear. I could not hear a significant difference. I used the Cardas wood blocks either a V cutout. The big negative is that I could not walk safely in out LR. Also the cats got to them and we found them under the furniture. A big mess to say least.

Leave them on for a few weeks and then take them off, that’s how you’ll know, any difference will likely be subtle.

What surface are the cables on at the mo’?

Just got these lifters from AliXpress the other day. Wanted ones that were cheap and had spikes as it would be used on carpet. I only bought them to reduce strain from the plug end and not for sound quality.

They are just resting on the floor which is Engineered Oak boards on a concrete base.

I’d be interested to see if a bit of carpet/rug would do as well? Alternatively some floating sockets à la Ovators.

Aren’t the cables supposed to be resting OVER the red rubber bands? That’s how you would get any vibration decoupling.

Won’tmake any difference with those snakes.

Why spend a boatload of money, when you can get silly for cheap? Do a web search for “rebar supports’’,

Correct.

I use pipe insulation cut into short pieces to raise my naca5 off the floor. Surprisingly it actually improved the sound.

Hi Jaybar,

The reason you would not hear a difference with CARDAS cables using cable lifters is that CARDAS LS cables already have a very high self capacitance between the + and - conductors.

Cable lifters generally only provide a benefit for reducing capacitance to ground and for example their use might be more noticeable on a very low capacitance cable set such as NAIM NACA5 LS cable.

Do these cable lifters work for daltonians?

Fine, fine, I placed the power cable atop the rubber band. Buggered if I can hear a difference.

You won’t anyway….particularly with cables that heavy.

Maybe they could be filled with helium and made to float?

Or run through jelly?
