Calcutta Cup

I had to look him up to find out how Scottish he is. The answer was that he isn’t.

I assume that he has a Scottish granny or pet gorilla somewhere in the family tree. We’re happy to have him, though!

I would actually be more concerned about Owen Farrell, who looks and behaves as if he may be descended from a tree lizard. Always looking to start a fight.

Let’s not not open up a debate about the racial descendancy of players. Please, let’s not.

Disgusting comment.

Nothing to do with racial descendancy at all, actually. I read that he qualifies only as he has lived and played in Scotland for three years.
Your use of the word disgusting is “interesting”.

Are you suggesting that International sporting rules were broken?

Lets just walk away from this. Please.

We all know that the eligibility rules throw up all sorts of scenarios that seem a bit odd. Scotland had a player make his debut (Dempsey) who has actually played for the Wallabies against Scotland and has 14 Wallabies caps. He meets the criteria for Scotland.

Move on, it was a very good match. Plenty of other things we could debate. Just for a change the ref wasn’t one of them which I think we all appreciated! I like the quicker line-out and scrum set ups. A noticeable change.

I couldn’t tell you the first thing about yesterday’s ref (hair colour, nationality, size, shape or whatever).

I take that to be a good thing.

Many years ago, my school PE teacher in Edinburgh was an international referee (Jake Young). During one Test in Paris, he made himself so unpopular with the home supporters that he had to be escorted from the pitch by a bunch of burly gendarmes.

How we laughed!

As an Anglo-Scot I’ve always maintained neutrality on the outcome of the Calcutta cup. From that perspective, I think Scotland played well. England could have done better, but the key takeaway from yesterday was that Ireland looked good.

So now, courtesy of BBC2, I can see England take it up the rear all over again!!!

And it’s even better this time, as I know what is to come.

Six Nations Rugby Special just starting.
