Cambridge Audio MXN10 - Honestly It Sounds Great!

Unfortunately Ris none of what you mentioned makes any sense to me

All I know is sound quality and I’m happy

My mistake, it was meant as a reply to Simon.

Me too I am rocking an MXN10, no regrets whatsoever.

upstream netwlork/ethernet filter[s] / switch[s]; snake oil or genuine veil-lifters ?

I am told that without a [networks acoustics] filter, I am robbing my stream of ultimate content / integrity ?

true/false ?

You will get responses either way.
Only way to is to try yourself.
As a starter I used an iFi LAN iSilencer for about £90 on Amazon so a decent return window - worth a try to see if it works for you?

CXN100 love it, have not compared with other streamers, I feel no need to, Aswell as a screen, (Which I love) it can also be used as a pre amp as it has balanced XLRs outs,

Mainly used for digital files from SD card, And occasionally the radio, no streaming services used,

Perhaps you and I have a different view of technology. It’s funny in my professional world this point came up yesterday obviously completely unrelated to this forum, and the consensus was the same …
The good things that most of us can to enjoy from this is lower cost points and therefore price points in patternisation and familiarity of approach, more modular standardized componentry and optimised and improved implementations as a consequence of mature tech.. this also affords the opportunity for greater bells and whistles around the core technology patterns.

Respectfully I think you may be referring to differences in implementation rather than the technology itself. There can be greater options for implementation optimization around mature or even stagnant technology… just look at what Naim, and a few others did in optimizing the implementation around the obsolete PCM104K DAC and associated pattern in it higher end DAC products.

I can’t tell difference between WiFi and wired… it all sounds good to me

That sounds like a good place to be compared to some of the “audiophilia nervosa”exhibited by some of the brethren :joy:.

I once emailed Chord about potentially connecting my 2go to an Ethernet cable rather than Wi-Fi. Their response was that it made zero difference to sound quality, and was only of benefit if I suffered with drop outs.

Amazing really then that the noise (pun intended) around Ethernet filters is gaining pace based on the popularity of streaming….especially from “reviewers”….

I would have suspected that the signal is received by the streaming unit and it’s then adapted and clocked to then send to the analogue output, rather than any filtration upstream having an6neffect on the 1s and 0s…

Why should it matter they are doing the same n job, if wi fi works it works, brick walls have an effect

I started with a CXN V1 finished on an HE the only reason being Roon Ready (10 yr user) . Don’t forget WAF my HE hides in a box with 1 or 2 pairs of headphones very neat and tidy. I am 100% headphones have been for over 10 yrs

On topic I have always been a CA fan their StreamMagic app is way superior to the Naim app. I use either as a Roon user

I’m the same TLR

I’ve tried the MXN10 via wireless and by a good quality cable and can’t hear much difference

If I had to choose I’d probably say the wireless sounds slightly better

I agree MikeOn the StreamMagic works great

I’m using it to stream Qobuz and it’s perfect and sounds wonderful

Sounds like it has a good wireless interface… good news. In my opinion that is how it should be.

BS unfortunately… be wary of anyone who says any such thing without examining your specific network and measuring any residual common mode noise.
Also categorically content and integrity is not affected. Basic Shannon’s Networks Principles upon all network and internet communications is built on. I suspect who ever said that to you doesn’t really have a clue what they are talking about.

Yep. TCPIP and the unit DAC and Clock combine to offer lossless signal.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions

Parallel user experience here with a former Auralic Aries 2.1, Atoms (past & present), and my Selekt.

I am waiting for the first forum experiences of the CI-102 which is only controlled via the app, or a home automation solution. No remote, but nice and compact…..

Does this mean that hyper expensive Ethernet cables are BS?

I’ve had two 2Gos and wifi dropouts are a feature particularly with ‘hi-res’ content, i.e. above CD level. The Poly performs better in my environment than the 2Gos ever did - which is a shame.

I suffered a little early on but since I put a mesh system in the house and therefore a router nearer the 2go I’ve had no issues
