I had something similar happen to my 70-200 2.8L, after it rolled of a kitchen table and landed on hard tiled flooring. The barrel mechanism seemed a little stiff and focusing was slow, but all else worked fine. I sent it back to Canon, who adjusted it and returned it as good as new for a relatively trivial price (under $100 ISTR).
It just goes to show…these lenses are built like tanks, and should last many decades.

So not just me then or the same L lens? To be fair, Canon’s gear is otherwise very robust.
