Cast photos from iPhone to Panasonic TV

I have previously cast photos from my iPhone to our main TV via an Apple TV - no problems. We have now purchased a second TV - a Panasonic. For space reasons, I cannot add an Apple TV to this screen. I can cast from my phone to the Panasonic if I am using an App that offers Chromcast (eg BBC Sounds or Qobuz) but cannot do it from the native Apple system on my phone.

Has anyone found a reliable App that I can add to my phone to cast photos, and possibly videos? I don’t mind paying for it but don’t want to pay for rubbish!

Are there other alternatives?
I can’t see a function on the TV for streaming photos from our cloud storage, not does there seem to be an option to access a NAS that is on the same network as the TV. I don’t think the Apple TV app on the Panasonic would help but I am happy to be shown a route through.
Thanks in advance.

Can you screen share to it, e.g. bottom right corner icon with the two overlapping squares

Thanks for the thought @GadgetMan but screen mirroring shows the Apple devices nearby, and our main LG television, but not the new Panasonic TV. It seems to need an app that has Chromecast as an option. Using this approach, Qobuz shows the TV as ‘Android TV OLED’.

Is this s new TV, as I’d be surprised if it doesnt support apple play

We bought it just before Xmas at a reduced price, I think it is a 2023 model -Panasonic 42MZ800B. It dosn’t identify Apple Play, hence I think we may need a Chromecast App.

Yup, looking at the spec, doesnt look like it’s supported - sorry about that. I dont know how you would use Chromecast for iPhotos. There may be other Photo apps that would read your iPhotos, but that may get messy

Our Samsung TV is old now, but it claims that I can access photos etc. on my iPhone by just installing a Samsung app on the phone. No additional hardware required. Maybe Panasonic have something similar?

Until a few montgs ago I used an HDMI cable plus an HDMI to Apple Lighting adapter cable to view pictures on a ~16 year old 50” Panasonic plasma TV. Having changed my iPad towards the end of 2024 I needed to get an HDMI to USB-C adapter cable . Apple do one for an extortionate £50, I have just ordered one with a couple of additional sockets for under £10 from eBay.

Hi @Innocent_Bystander - that is a solution I have used in the past and I do have the adaptor you mention. I really want a solution that doesn’t involve cables and lets my wife cast the photos from her phone.

I had hoped our EE TV box would form a connection (but it doesn’t) and I realise that I could put a ‘smart stick’ into one of the USB ports - I haven’t looked at these possibilities yet.

What I have tried are apps on her phone - ‘TV Cast’, ‘Castify’ and ‘Screen Mirroring’. These work and I am interested if anyone has tried such apps and can recommend one in terms of reliability and cost.

Another thought that has occurred to me is to access her iCloud account via the TVs web browser and stream from there. Very clunky in terms of accessing the web route with a TV remote though!

There’s an app called “cast to Panasonic tv”.

I’ve used it previously can’t say I was that impressed but you get a free trial so maybe worth checking out
