Casting BBC Sounds Android

Hi all, I recently purchased an Atom HDMI  and I’m trying to cast directly from the BBC Sounds app on my Android phone to it but the Atom doesn’t appear in my list of devices in the BBC app. Tried to add through the Google Home app but can’t find the Atom. I have Google Cast enabled in the settings in the naim app. I appreciate I can use the naim app to access all the BBC stations but for casual listening, catching up with the sport etc. I like the BBC interface.
I’ve tried switching off/on the Atom and router and also uninstalled and reinstalled the BBC app. Am I trying to do something that isn’t possible or am I missing something?

Works fine with iOS BBC sounds app airplay to Nova.
If you are using a different OS, you haven’t made that clear.
Useful if you also amend the thread title to include the OS!

Thanks for that, thread amended :+1:

Normally castwors on my audio apps and I am casting bbc right now. The problem is when it does not work the solution is not always obvious. The usual problems you must be on the same network for it too work, and hopefully no sofgtware is blocking the connection. Usually powering everything also the router ddown and starting all over again using the home app to find the streamer, has a chance of working. Of course you can also hard reset the streamer and hope for the best if you do not lose many presets and other settings that y you will lose this way.

Should work. But I can’t see what you might be missing…

Is the Atom on wired or on the WiFi? It could be that it’s not on the same network as your tablet/phone.

Does an Android device support casting? Normally bluetooth on android.

Yes. Android is very happy casting.

I don’t see that on the BBC Sounds app on my android (Samsung) phone, only appears when BT is connected. Perhaps a limitation of my phone?

It only appears when you are actually connected to a station or podcast if that helps.

Strange. Just tried with a newer Samsung. Unless BT is turned on, on the phone, the cast icon doesn’t show on the Sounds app. Sounds then reports no connection, check your on the same wifi ( it is). Meanwhile BT connection works and plays.
Edit, I don’t actually need it, just interested as to why Sounds does/doesn’t cast.

I’m connected via WiFi, ethernet is not possible, and this is what I can see whenever I try to cast. It works with the other devices on the list and the naim app controls the Atom without any issues so I’m a bit confused, perhaps a reset of the Atom is required.

Samsung S24 Ultra, Bluetooth switched off and BBC Sounds app happy casting to both my Naim devices

I don’t have a clue either.

First thing I’d try is force stop the Naim app and clear cache. If that doesn’t solve it next thing I’d do is reboot the router and mesh WiFi if one is in use. If that doesn’t work next thing would be to power down the Atom and if it still doesn’t work reset the Atom

Thanks for the help but with the exception of the force stop, which I’ve just tried, I’ve tried all your suggestions. I’ll reboot everything tomorrow, again, and see how I get on. I don’t hold out much hope though.
However, I do own a lump hammer

I have an Echo connected by Bluetooth to a Logitech adapter that connects to my preamp. It is now very easy to access anything on BBC Sounds or other radio stations.

Thought I’d update this thread. After some trouble shooting with Naim support it was suggested I return to my supplier with my Atom to see if it worked on their network. No joy with my Atom but their demo unit worked perfectly. It turned out my unit was faulty, credit to my supplier they replaced my Atom and all is good.
