Okay, another question regarding the Core network connection.
If I were to connect it wirelessly via, say, a BrosTrend Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 WiFi to Ethernet Adapter, would I avoid the noise issues associated with powerline adapters?
My research tells me that I would and that, with wifi speed of 500mbps, there would be no downsides (especially with my Nova also being wireless).
There’s always the possibility that any electrical device can throw out interference that could theoretically affect your HiFi, although most modern network equipment is pretty quiet. It’s a fairly safe bet that the item you mention will be better than any powerline adapter because these put out high levels of electrical interference by design and this normally spreads to every electrical circuit in your home (and possibly beyond). So yes, I’d say it’s worth a try.

Chris, spot on. I would also add powerline adapters are not Ethernet and act as an Ethernet type bridge. This means they can not work optimally in full duplex mode which Naim streamers really need to operate well.

Yes, I’d already dispensed with the Powerline option, Simon. It was just a view on the wireless to ethernet adapter I was after and I can’t see any tangible negatives as yet (particularly as I have a very strong & stable wifi solution).
Excellent, yes modern wireless devices and protocols are a world away from earlier WiFi where Ethernet for consumer devices was generally preferable.

My WiiM streamer struggles to get a good WiFi signal in the corner of the bedroom I use as an office. So I have a BrosTrend adaptor, mine is an AC7, and an Ethernet cable from that to the WiiM. It works fine even at the highest resolution.

Quick question for @davidhendon - David, my intention is to just back up when there’s a change to my music folder. Would I just use the default “back up now” option, and would it then be incremental?

Just a quick update (@NogBadTheBad) on the NAS issue… I now have Time Machine backing up to an external USB drive, sitting on my desk and connected directly to my MBP. It’s not quite as safe as it’s no longer in a different room to the computer, but at least I have a hard backup in addition to my cloud one.
I think I could probably have continued to use the Time Capsule that way, but it was too big and too white!

Works absolutely perfectly, and it was a piece of cake to set up. I can effectively put the Core anywhere in the house now, as wi-fi speed is between 300-500mbps throughout. The Core sees it as a wired connection, of course.
Very happy where it is (the other side of the lounge) for now, though
