CD5i into Uniti Atom

Hi, I have recently aquired an Uniti Atom. I also have an older naim system containing a CD5i + Flatcap that I want to play through the Atom via RCA connectors. I set the CD5i on analog output. But no sound comes out from the analog Atom interface. What am I missing?

Have you chosen the CD player’s RCA outputs?

Have you enabled the Atom’s analog input?

With these two steps done, it should work. One thing confuses me: you mention a Flatcap, yet the CD5i cannot use one.

It can if it’s (whispers) modified. Hence cannot be discussed.
Let’s hope the op made a typo rather than did something that cannot be mentioned.

Thank you for the support. I did indeed exactely what you suggest before asking for help. I switched to the anolog output on the CD5i. On the Atom I set the analog input. There is no sound. I also exchanged the RCA cables. Still no sound. What am I doing wrong?

PS: I have two external power supplies : Flatcap 2x that supports the preamp and cd-player and NAPSC for the headphones.

Are you 100% sure that you’ve set the RCA/phono output on the CD5i correctly, and exited setup mode correctly? Maybe try again.

I’m still confused about the flatcap. You say it connects to the preamp, but then you say you are connecting to the Atom. What equipment do you have? How exactly are you connecting it up? It’s impossible to advise otherwise.

I checked again. The disp function is set on phono output (oo). :confounded:
Regarding my elder naim system it consists of nac 112x, nap 150x, cd5x, flatcap 2x, nat05 and nd5xs. I also use headphones with a headline and napsc. Now I have aquites a uniti atom and like a lot its modern capabilities.

Ok so “x” cd player not “i” cd player, per title and original post?
With the phono leads connected only to the atom, do you get a buzzing sound if you tap the plugs with your fingers? (Or do you have something else to plug in to test that isn’t your cd player?)

There is no sound when tapping the plugs. I will look for another source next week to see if it works. Thanks.

You would normally hear a buzzing sound if you touch the rca tip, so check the atom settings again.
There arent many sockets, but just to confirm, its these ones for line input.

Hi and thank you for helping me. I tried now another source (cd-player). I connected it to the Atom analog input sockets as shown on your picture. The analog input is activated. And I still have no sound!
All other inputs work fine.
