My much loved CD II has decided to throw what might be a terminal hissy fit.
It’s stopped working on the right hand channel. I’ve swapped the interconnect, the Burndy and the pre amp in line in all to no avail. NAIM don’t want to work on it due to lack of spares which we all already know about.
I’ve been told it’s unlikely to be the XPS. Before I consign it to the skip or sell it for spares is there anyone on here who might have a suggestion or know of an independent repairer who could help me.
Has your dealer enquired with Naim on this? I know that the mech is pretty much impossible to replace now, but other parts may well still be available. Perhaps @NeilS will have an idea?
Transports & DACs for the CDS2 are all done now, however the 1702 DACs are fairly reliable. The last channel down repair I did on one of these was down to a shorted tant in one of the descrete output stages.
I’m not too sure what our current CDS2 repair policy is, but definitely worth enquiring with Tech Support, as it could be something simple.
Many many thanks for your quick responses guys. You’ve definitely given me food for thought. My local Audio T dealer has already spoken to Naim on my behalf but they don’t believe they can repair it. This is without seeing the item!
I will continued to pursue this as I have no intention of this fabulous product becoming an expensive doorstop!
