If I understand you correctly, are you stating that you can only have one source plugged into the Pre-amp only at any one time.
Sort of negates the source selection buttons at the front and the inputs at the rear.

You can have more than one source connected to a pre-amp. What you don’t want though is to have more than one of those sources with the signal earth connected (as is done in Naim CD players and some others too). Owners who used to want to run two Naim CD players in a system would need to have the signal earth lifted on one of the players - this could be done by Naim service. The DAC and Streamers though came with the convenience of a signal earth switch, thus making it much easier to fit in a system that already had a Naim CD player in it.
Slight diversion but how does this work with TV and streaming as your two sources?
While I understand your position I don’t think it reflects the reality of modern products. They can pretty much service any amplifier products from any era. Digital products are the issue as parts like cd mechs are externally sourced and become impossible to get. I am sure many of the other digital bits like dacs will be the same. Naims much deserved reputation was built in simpler times.
Most kit does not connect the signal to mains earth.
Indeed, most kit floats the mains earth as well, which can of course bring other issues when connected to a mains earthed Naim system. For anything TV related I would recommend a line of isolation (such as an optical digital connection to a DAC) before connecting to the Hifi.
Thank you for confirming that you can have more than one source connected at a time.

Nowadays I’ve no Naim source. No idea how my streamer is earthed. Have put off going optical with TV sound for two decades as the cables are embedded in the wall. My plan is to go optical into the Chord Hugo TT2 when the Kuro decides its time is up.
So…Naim will not honour warranty on their repair, which I sort of understand given the DAC obsolescence.
Does anyone have any experience of Exposure CD Player?
sorry…or Rega CD Players
Recently went through inability to repair olive CDX - so sold mono CDX to local electronics hobbyist & p/ exd its partner XPS with helpful local dealer towards a Rega Saturn with plenty of spares available & later added Chord Qutest DAC onto it - with decent cable it’s a quite acceptable low cost option in our system, though not quite as musical as a Naim - worth a listen?
What items are you saying they won’t repair under warranty? As far as I’m aware the standard 2 year and extended 5 year warranties they underwrite have been honoured on all products.
Hi Klink…Am I reading this right that I can use my XPS2 with a REGA Saturn?
Its the Left channel DAC thats failed after Naim repaired it.
Hi Perf…what would you consider to be a “Flagship” CD Player?
Sorry for confusion. XPS went with sickly CDX. THE Rega Saturn has a decent DAC built in but has connections to allow you to bypass that inbuilt DAC, replacing that Rega DAC with the rather special Chord Qutest DAC resulted in sound very close to previous Naim CDX with XPS - worth auditioning at your dealer……….There isn’t an option to add an XPS.
Thank you Klink.
I’m looking into the possibility of Unity & nDAC combo. Does anyone have any experience how this commute to a CDS3 / XPS2?
Thanks you
Well, they may be able to perform some servicing on the amps but remember, they stopped DR upgrades because of “lack of parts availability”, and some other non-digital products can’t be serviced for fear of “damaging the PCBs”.
Basic repairs that can be performed by any competent spark (eg capacitor/resistor replacement) may be done by NAIM in the foreseeable future, but only time will tell.
That was sort of my point. Complexity of modern parts leaves manufacturers at the mercy of suppliers. The fact that most of Naims amps are refined old fashioned designs helps to some extent. I believe the DR kits were available for new builds but rare enough to stop the retro fits. It has been said here before that Naim were magnanimous in tallowing these refits. Less scrutable companies might have made you buy a new unit…
Does the locking bolt not protect. My Uniti 1 survived a Naim service a few years back for uprated board/back light
Without the locking bolts the chances of a mech surviving the courier are indeed very slim. In fact on a CDS3 you would likely destroy the pins on the tray and jewelled bearing cups and also damage the suspension. Not recommended.
