I agree that cd gets bad press. I remember my first player in 1985, and it did sound better than my TT of the day.
By the early 1980s stereo LPs were only 25 years old ( 1958 ??)

I also laugh when Tidal or Qobuz talk about streaming " cd quality". Their super high tech standard is 40 years old! I get the clever bit is getting it on demand down a phone wire though.
