I put the NAIM DAC now on CHASSIS and the ND5XS on floating like several here proposed…but honestly, after a few checks, I can´t tell a difference between the DAC and the streamer both on floating…I thought both on floating was “better”…but later on I couldn´t find a difference…
well it sounds like you have now set it up correctly - but as I said some prefer it when not optimally set and a slightly higher noise floor on the ground - such are the vagaries with hifi 
The bottom line, no harm can be done if not set optimally so ultimately you can set to suite taste.
