My parcel has been delivered apparently!

Anyone recognise this location?

Similar chat with our long-term postie here (very nice chap), as Amazon are obviously using RM more now (i.e. RM must have accepted/contracted for the higher volume), which means he’s also delivering more & larger parcels (the cut-off to RM Parcels appears to have changed). He’s starting the local round at around after 2-30pm. Needless to say, he can’t figure out what’s going on, and I don’t think RM can either.

Our postie brings us stuff nearly everyday so no sign of a seasonal service here in North Wales.

The friendliness and service from our postie to us is far superior to any parcel company although our local DPD chap does a good job. Our experience of Evri is very hit and miss the normal chap does his best but I think he is run ragged by Evri and we get lots of missed deliveries on the day they are supposed to arrive (we are far out in the sticks and usually on the end of the delivery run so if they run late it gets pushed to next day or later) although we have not had any lost as yet.

Mirror the above. Great service from our posties for years, helpful and friendly. I can genuinely say I don’t think we have ever lost a letter we were expecting.

DPD consistently the best courier, reliable and a great app to log the driver progress. Evri the Ryanair of the sector. Although to be fair I have never taken a Ryanair flight!

Is it customary to tip the postman in the UK at the end of the year? I usually tip $50 to our postman for Christmas, though I think they’re not suppose to accept cash gifts over $20.

We leave biscuits or chocolates.

Similar situation to you regarding magazine subscriptions.

You are correct regarding the letter post situation in Denmark, Denmark’s postal service, known as PostNord, are to cease all letter deliveries by the end of 2025 due to decline in letter volumes, shifting its focus entirely to parcel deliveries. This marks the end of a 400-year tradition of letter mail service in Denmark.

Our local counter at the sorting office in Worksop has recently reduced its hours where you can collect undelivered mail to 2 hours per day !

It used to be 4/5 hours per day

So less deliveries / more signed for items / parcels returned to sorting office and even shorter opening hours as well

Tenner and a card.
Same for the milkman.

They’re both nice guys, as all have been - we’ve been fortunate over the years with each.

I must be getting old … I can still recall the good old days when Royal Mail (or was it GPO ?) made two deliveries each day

Wow GPO. thats a blast from the past !!

Yes, I believe it is. We give our Postie a Xmas Card with a tip. We often have a brief chat when she delivers throughout the year. But at Xmas we keep the chat very, very brief so as not to delay her.

Thats a national situation, again dates back to the strikes, before, open 5-6 hours, after, 2 hours if you’re lucky, another way to reduce staff count.

Something else thats changed is the increased presence of Royal Mail branded pickup / drop-off parcel points, 3 years ago it was rasied why RM didn’t have any, reason being, they didn’t need them due to customer collection points, now they are springing up everywhere and have acquired a 49% stake in Collect+ for Ā£43.9 million. This will add almost 8,000 Collect+ locations, providing customers with more convenient options for sending and receiving parcels.

I still get post, some that I actually want, and see the post person regularly. I am very happy with the service.

The general postman/woman are pretty good however Parcel Force and Royal Mail 48 hour delivery are worse than useless in fact the make Evri look professional.
