Very true.
DHL have just about fried my mental well-being.
They manage to flick up every single delivery in some way. Often this is dropping Wine Society packages - with predictable results.
Today a John Lewis delivery that was â10 stops awayâ has just disappeared from the tracking app - which still says it is out for delivery today. Is it b0llocks..![]()

- the lazy courier has flicked off home early ![]()

I am not saying they havenât gone off early, but there are other possible explanations.
They may have broken down.
You may be at the end of their route today, and since they started early, perhaps have now reached their max hours.
to list 2 possibilities.
It is frustrating for sure. We are often at the end of the route, and they run out of time. An annoyance is how they explain this sometimes by adding a reason to the tracking, like âcustomer not inâ or âparcel addressed incorrectlyâ neither will be true. Usually, we will get it the next day.
Today we received our first postal a delivery for a whole week. Terrible service. What are we paying for?
Have you done anything about the poor service ? we can all post on here that R.Mâs service is terrible which on the letter side, it is, As I have posted before, if your parcel delivery provider gives you bad service, you have a choice of other providers, letters you are stuck with one, provided by a company that keeps posting that the public are happy to accept less letter deliveryâs in future, yet I havenât seen one post on here, that supports that.
AFAIK the only payment is the price of stamps. Hence you arenât paying anything to receive deliveries, no? ![]()
Yesterday we received a Christmas card from our postman, which was a pleasant surprise.
Yes, itâs a nice thing to get isnât itâŚour latest postman, Colin, gave us a card which was lovely. He really appreciated the tenner! I wonder how many people in our area leave a gift for their posties.
Our previous postman, who moved to a different route, called round to say hello once when he was passing. Made my week.
What would you suggest I do to remedy the situation?
The sender pays for the stamp and in return, when it is stuck on an envelope there is an expectation, or commitment, that delivery is made in a timely manner. What time period is now regarded as reasonable seems to be undefined in recent times.
Our letter delivery seems to be extraordinarily good compared to many here: something is in the doormat every day. I feel newly grateful.
Itâs all here:
https://www.royalmail.com/receiving/the-future-of-letter-deliveries
First port of call is Royal Mail Customer Care, which ensures your complaint is logged and these get flagged up to Ofcom in the Q of S figures or lack of.
Royal Mail Customer Care telephone number is listed on their web page.
(I would post, but not sure thats allowed perhaps @Richard.Dane can advise?)
Tel: 03457 740 740
Next I would contact your M.P. explaining the lack of deliveries, if you have dates when you have had a delivery, thats even better.
Contacting the Delivery Office and trying to talk to the Manager in my view is a waste of time, direct telephone numbers for each office mysteriously disappeared after the last Industrial Action, and while everyone in the company know that staff are told to concentrate on parcels and leave letters in the frame, said manager will deny ever saying that.
Please let us know how you get on and good luck.
Yes thatâs fine to post @Cmax
âWe estimate Royal Mail could realise annual net cost savings of between ÂŁ250m and ÂŁ425m with successful implementation of this change, enabling it to invest more in improving its delivery performance. We have told Royal Mail to hold regular meetings with consumer bodies and industry groups to hear about the experiences of people and businesses as it implements these changesâ
Itâs all designed to save money, not to improve the service.
Thanks Richard.
We get hospital appointments via email and txt. And a letter
So do we, but my next door neighbours, who are both in their 90âs wonât have a mobile phone, and donât own any P.C or tablet, so a regular delivery is vital for them, and no doubt many others.
I take it all back
Had a Sunday letter delivery today. WOW !!!
