RIP Clem.
Loved some of the Blondie music he recorded, r.i.p
Sad news to die of cancer at 70
One of my favourite drummers. Was a joy to watch live, infact I used to go and see Blondie just to see him! Sad news. RIP Clem
Sad News, R.I.P.
oh no, no age, RIP
Martin
That’s sad news. Hard to believe how time passes: Clem was only 23 when I saw Blondie on the Parallel Lines tour in 1978. I’ve got the tour programme somewhere…
A great drummer! RIP Clem.
Sad News. Great drummer.
Saw Blondie twice at their peak with both gigs being referenced in the recent Harry book and one of them simply being the best gig I ever saw bar none. Met Harry and Burke post one of the gigs. Both had performed to the point of total exhaustion.
There are plenty of drummers who you recognise in an instant and Clem Burke was right up there on that front but seeing him live was the revelation. Quite literally never seen anything like it.
Instantly recognizable drummer. I was a great fan of Blondie for many reasons and remember the eighties. I heard the new Eurythmics sound with the song “When Tomorrow Comed” and tought: “is this Clem Burke?” Since there was no internet an www I didn’t have a opportunity to check. The mtv clip did not give the answer. Years later i found out that this unmistakenly sound was his.
So no the Big Question: which drummer do you recognize by his sound like you can distinguish guitar players?
