I had an Eizo CS2420 which had red color cast at the screen borders after less than 2000 hours of usage. It was replaced under guarantee and guess what. The same issue after even less hours. So no more Eizo monitor for me ever.
Regarding a new monitor and I would aim for one which has calibration software build in and covers as much as Adobe RGB as possible. Next to BenQ ande Dell Acer and Asus make a few good ones.

Really? Interesting to know, but very sorry for your bad experience. Maybe there was a bad batch? I’ve used Eizos from the FS, EV and CG series and never experienced any issues.
I totally understand your frustration and why you don’t want them anymore. What a pity. What did they tell you when you found out the red color cast on the second monitor too?
That’s a key point, I fully agree on that.

I’m still working on (what then was considered “savagley big) 22 inch BENQ GL2250 LED monitors. The itch is, they are becoming too small to fit my age corrected zoom factor…
And they still work remarkably well. So quality wise i can recommend them. Allthough i do not use them for gaming, purely office work and the occasional photo work (very light).

Same as you; jumped on a discounted M4 16/512 Mini and it’s fine. Also grabbed an M5 MBA and it’s amazingly fast - like you don’t need any other spec fast
So now looking to get a Studio Display as I need a camera and microphone built in.

Bought an Apple Pro XDR when they came out in 2020, ludicrously expensive but purchased due to a desire to pay homage to the design genius of Jonny Ive as it was one of the last products he actively worked on. 6.1/2 years later never had a single issue and can still adjust the height/tilt with one finger. Will last me at least another 6.1/2 years I think. Great for photography/video and just plain easy on the eyes……not such a bad value after all considering the predicted lifespan!

I’ll just say his portfolio from the original iMac (which is credited as saving a near bankrupt Apple) through iPods, IPhones, Titanium and Aluminium PowerBooks, MacBook Pro’s, Cheesegraer Mac Pro’s, iPads, watches, which were endlessly copied by every other manufacturer stands as a testament. Amongst all that success I will forgive the missteps of the Trashcan Mac Pro and butterfly keyboard. The much maligned 2016 MacBook Pro with its slim profile was hampered only by Intel’s inability to produce a battery sipping low power yet high performance portable processor (and a pretty but fault prone keyboard). It’s still my favourite MBP and I would not be surprised if the MacBook Ultra design does not hark back to the 2016 MBP now that Apple have their own M series chips.
As regards the Ferrari, as far as I am aware Mr Ive and Newsom designed the interior, they had input on the exterior but the Ferrari designers were tasked with producing the most aerodynamic body ever in a Ferrari, which I have read they achieved. Polarising for the traditionalists but I seem to recall the iPhone received derogatory press from the technocrati on its release and its demise was predicted within months….and we all know how that turned out…….

They told me that the guarantee period was over and the repair would be around €400. Because I found out that it was a common issue with this model my relationship with Eizo came to an abrupt end.

I use the ‘regular’ 27 “ Studio Display monitor with my Mac Studio… for my photography and 3D design and render work. Absolutely first class. I have learned for photography and critical work it’s best to avoid the anti reflective glass so as to avoid micro blurring, slight loss of contrast and very fine loss of visual resolution… the difference from my previous Mac screen with its anti reflection finish was marked with my photography work.
Like others I calibrate my monitor… though the default profile is very good. It’s only on the edge of the gamut in the extreme reds and oranges I have found calibration helped.
Oh yes although it took some in time to run in to open up, the speaker system in the Studio Display is pretty good as well

Sometimes these threads drift from original query.
Was wondering what good value but better than basic general purpose monitors people are buying these days.
I do very little photo processing and even less video these days - of course that may change but it’s not my day job.
Apple are a bit of a rollesrcoaster - they make some excellent products but have today dropped support for watches more than around 3 -4 years old today which seems craxy. My son’s iPhone 11 will still get an update this year which is great considering it’s so old.
Maybe I need to take a look at the Apple monitors in store again, not necessarily out of reach, just not essential for me. If I needed one professionally costs could probably be offset.

I nearly bought a M4 Mac Mini and Studio Display to replace my 2015 27 inch 5K iMac that I used with a 4K Dell as a second monitor. In the end I’ve opted for a M4 iMac, as I wanted less stuff on my desk and a simpler set up. It works fine with the Dell monitor, but the difference in screen contrast and colour is now more noticeable. Hence dark thoughts about the BenQ MA270S. This will be my last business set-up so I am tempted, and there are tax advantages ti buying through the business before I retire.

Yes thread drift happens ( And I have been guilty of some outrageous thread 
drift ) but I am following this thread , not because I have a need for the latest monitors , but because there is the strong possibility that a monitor with 4 k , and with some HDMI inputs would be good for watching BluRays without the huge faff that goes with a lot of smart TVs .

Interestingly, I’ve become increasingly frustrated with modern TVs as Smart options seem to be the only ones these days on the high street.
Many years ago in their infancy they were too complex for my father, and I was wondering about how MIL would cope when she asked if she’d be able to use a TV in the bedroom. She has no broadband and a quick search turned up a company called ‘celloelectronics’ who produce non Smart TVs some with built in DVD players. No idea if they are any good, and suspect there must be similar companies but there is a need for simple TVs for many people.
In fact I’ve delayed getting a new TV for this very reason. Even projectors aren’t immune to Smart features these days, so yes, good monitors may be a useful option but might need a Freeview box (seem to be few available) and sound options.

I use a BenQ Creative Pro PD3205U with my PC. About £500 now I think.
Seems absolutely fine to me using Lightroom and the like.
Usefully also has lots of inputs and works as a hub so I can plug my work laptop into it and flip between the two via the included wired ‘remote’ device.
And it defo. has some kind of direct Mac benefits but I can’t remember what they are.
Has several presets for different kinds of work on it but I just leave it in standard.

Ah, I have Sky, and have done in one way or another since the 1980s , a Sky box fed by super fast broadband does away with all the kerfuffle of smart TV and keeps it simple via an HDMI feed
if I get my new flat, it is broadband only … so if I get a small SKY box I won’t need a smart TV . I could argue that as a Sky user with different flavours of Sky boxes I have only used my TV as a monitor for the last forty years

I have 2 LG UltraFine 24MD4KL-B Apple Dedicated Monitor 24", I like them, but these are no longer available.

Or, indeed, no box and Sky Stream. Not quite as functional but a fair bit cheaper.
