I have an old NAIM CD5 player, and just got a Supernait 2. How do I connect them? I connected the CD5’s signal output to the SN2’s CD input, with no luck. In my old system (NAC 112x + Flatcap x2), there was a second cable, but I don’t remember how that was used.
Have you inserted the paddle link plug in the CD5? Or, if you still have the Flatcap 2 you could connect that up to the CD5 - it should sound best that way anyway (and would be how I would want it fronting the SN2, if it were my own system).
I’m pretty much a noobie with all this (I’ve had pros set the system up before, but that’s not practical at this point). How would I hook up the Flatcap ? Does it connect up just to the CD5, or to both the CD5 and the SN2?
If you’re using the Flatcap, there’s two different SNAIC cables you need. Both are 5 pin, but one has the pins arranged at 180 deg, the other at 240 deg.
The 180 deg cable is the interconnect, signal to the Supernait.
The 240 deg cable is the power from Flatcap to CD5.
Once you have both cables in your hand it should be fairly obvious which goes where.
