I have just bought a Naim NSC 222 and Naim 250 on EBay. How do I connect them? Apart from speakers (and wi-fi) do I need anything else to start listening to streaming music?
Is it the latest 250 (white logo) or a previous generation 250 ?
Did the NAP 250 not come with XLR cables?
The NAP 250 (late 2020) came with one XLR cable. Do I need to buy a separate power supply (say the Naim PSX 300) to start listening to the NSC 222 + NAP 250?
No PSU needed to connect them. You’ll need an adapter cable to connect the 222 to the previous generation 250
Lead Assembly, New Classic Pre-amp, XLR to Legacy NAP250 XLR - XLR (x2) to Single XLR 00-010-0247
Thank you for the precise information. I’ll get onto it now. I expect this lead will continue to be functional even after getting the PSX 300?
Yes, that cable will still be needed between the 222 and 250. The NPX 300 connects directly to the 222 via a pair of Burndy cables.
No need for a separate ps. Depending on your speakers and your end point, auditioning a NPX300 is an absolute, to determine if it suits your system. Your profile may benefit from an update.
Before spending on the lead assembly described, you might consider whether a NC250 will be a better fit with your system ahead of a ps. The NC250 is the natural partner for NSC 222 and is something of a step up. The lead assembly is not required for a NC250, which should come with the appropriate i/cs.
edit - Worth noting that buying independently on the auction site, for what is very new equipment, unless from an online dealer, there will be no warranty. A good dealer will be able to answer many of your questions and will be likely able to offer attractive terms if you engage with them.
That’s valuable feedback. Thank you.
