Connecting Rega fono MC

Hi,

What would you recommend for connecting my Rega fono MC to the Naim 50? Would it be better to replace the MC cartridge with a MM or buy a SUT?

Naim do sell a 2RCA to 5-Pin DIN interconnect that would allow a direct connection without forsaking your cartridge and MC phono stage. That is probably your best bet! See your local Naim dealer rather than be tempted to buy one from E-bay or the like!

I couldn’t say which is the best option for you but one attraction of SUTs like a pair of Ortofon T5s or similar, is that you don’t lose an input. This may or may not be important to you.

Chord sells one as well. Works great with my Thorens mm005 pre amp.

This is a phono stage designed for mc cartridges giving a line level output, so connect via 2x rca to 5 pin din interconnect into either the stream or aux input.

With the rega p6 do you have the ania cart? The other option though more expensive would be to replace the ania with the nd5 or 7 cartridge and into the nait 50 phono stage.

Or as you suggest use a sut into the 50 phono stage.

Depends on your budget. Another option is to upgrade to the aria phono stage.

Hi,

Tried this option but only get audio from the right channel. Thought it could be the connector but have borrowed one that we know works and same thing. Any advice would be welcome.

Start from the cartridge tags and work through the system.
