Control NAC552 volume through NAIM App

Hi, I understand that it is possible to control the volume of my NAC552 through the Naim app that I use to control the NDX-2.
Does anyone know what connection I should set up between the NDX2 and the NAC552?
Do you have any videos/diagrams/tutorials?
Thanks a lot

You need a 3.5mm mono jack to RCA phono lead. Then connect them up and enable system automation using the App.

Thanks HangryHalibut,
can you specify better where I have to connect the jack and where the RCA?

There is only one way it can go if you look at the backs of the two units. Jack in the NDX2, RCA in the 552.

Yeah, I made mistake of buying 3.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack. Bought right cable and then you’ll het the idea!

Useful way of controlling 552 on all formats including your phone.

Ok thanks! I saw the ports on the back. I need to by the cable and I’ll try it.

Be sure to purchase a high quality shielded cable. A cheap cable will act like an antenna and degrade the sound of your 552.

Ok, thanks. I’m going to buy it today. I will ask to a Hi-Fi reseller

Since that day @Igel automation is off and cable removed I now use the 552 remote for the volume.

Damn, what an absurd story.
Anyone else with this bad experience?

Nope. Using it many many times daily. Zero issues.

Same here, no issues at all.

May I ask if you have a brand on the top of your head? I din know it can act as antennas :sob:

I use a Belden 1505a shielded video cable, with RCA-Mini connectors. It was made by a now defunct cable supplier in the USA. Any custom cable supplier can make you one, and they are not expensive.

I started out with a cheap RCA-Mini cable from Amazon but it seriously degraded the sound of my 552. As usual, everything matters in hifi, even the control cable!

Tks will go hunt for one.

I have not been too sure about this problem at all, but if my speakers are wrecked by some software glitch? It’s not worth it.

Was there any explanation put forward by Naim?

I am now using 552 nice remote to control the volume. No hardship as it’s a nice but heavy remote. Will use phone or ND555 remote as necessary, but not for volume.

Naim need to get to the bottom of what happened. Is it an isolated case?

Good to know. I’ll by one custom made

I’ve heard diddly squat from Naim and I don’t expect to. The app definitely sent an instruction to the 552 that ended up sending the volume to maximum.
The volume on the 552 wouldn’t budge until I terminated the Naim app, make of it what you will folks.

I read the thread at the time and read it again today and was filled with concern.

The only thing I can think is someone else was using another device and it was connected to your system.

Could this be true?

But nevertheless it fills me with concern. I live alone but kids are over at weekends and connect to my system. And mates connect uo using Spotify playing their music.

I have had no problems but it only takes 10 seconds and then speakers are gone.

So I don’t think it’s worth using system automation.

Shame as I was really enjoying using phone to control Naim app.
