One thing I’ve found with my Core is that if I’ve got an album where I’ve updated the metadata (including metadata such as artwork), and the metadata hasn’t been picked up, a database rebuild will do the trick.
Of course, with over 4000 albums, this takes a wee while. I’ve found that if I just want to update the one album, changing the name of the folder (adding a single character into the folder name) will be enough for the Core to see the album as new/updated, and refresh its database. I then change the name of the folder back (which updates it again, and gets the folder name back to what it’s supposed to be)
Yes, it’s easy with CD rips. But with downloaded hires 24bit music, adding the album art is different. Sometimes I need to add the cover manually in the download folder from a computer. Usually this is simple, but lately this does not work anymore.
Usually the folder.jpg or cover.jpg file in the folder will do the trick. With albums you’ve downloaded (rather than ripped), you can use an metadata editor to easily add the album art to each track file. I use MP3tag on both my Mac and Windows computers, and it works really well (and is pretty easy to use also)
I have used Core for five years and always done what I am trying to do now. Just find the cover on the internet, usually discogs or amazon, and rename the folder. It’s strange that something that worked before don’t work anymore.
I will look at mp3tag and see if I am able to umderstand how to use it.
