Cricket

One of the worst starts to an over ever by Ngidi in the IPL today, with Jofra Archer as batsman:
6
6
6 no ball
6 no ball
wide
…so 27 scored off two balls into the over at this point…then did somewhat better with only 3 off the rest of the over.

Memories of the great Daryl Tuffey over from a 2005 ODI:

4 no ball
No ball
No ball
No ball
Wide
Wide
4
(At this point 14 off one ball that took seven deliveries)
Wide
Dot
Wide
Dot
Dot
Dot
Dot

So quite a good comeback at the end really :joy:

Strange watching county cricket on BBC iPlayer, not that the lack of crowds will be a new experience, but the absence of stump Mike, slomo and analysis.

The Bob Willis Trophy final is on Youtube. Sky comment package but more SD than HD.

Shame about the lack of stump mic, and the third ump’.

Vale Dean Jones. Dead at 59.

Good Lord, that’s a shock. RIP Deano, such a graceful batsman, some great knocks for the Aussies and I saw him a couple of times for Derbyshire, a joy to watch.

Yes far too young. So sad.

Back in the 80’s it was not an exaggeration to say I stayed glued to the TV to watch these 2 batsman play One Day Cricket. No matter the time or what I was doing.

  1. Viv Richards.
  2. Dean Jones.

I’ve woken to the sad news re DJ. He was part of what made cricket so interesting for me, until the likes of him and AB, Lillie and co I always though the game was boring.

RIP big guy, 59 is way too young.

Shocking news - heard it while listening to Bob Willis final. Vic Marks’ comments were apposite.

Nice tribute to Dean Jones before the Aus v NZ woman’s T20 game today.

The Aussie women win the first game, they’re a ruthless bunch.

I’ve enjoyed the Eng v WI series this last week. Some exciting cricketers on both sides; but some of the fielding leaved a lot to be desired.

Confession time, I watch and have enjoyed the IPL , like the Big Bash the interaction of big crowds and sometimes exciting T20 makes for enjoyable TV.

There was a really tight match with low scores today, but this year’s series has on the whole been lacklustre without the crowds and the predictability of many of the matches

You’ll be happy to know that this seasons BBL will have crowds, they maybe reduced in numbers but they’ll (barring any surprises) be there.

Well, it is the DRS system…and we know what the D stands for.

Think our Indian friends have vacated the forum unfortunately. Will you guys (UK) get to see any of the Aus v India games (they start next week).

It looks like we get them on Sky pay TV from the 27th, and before that we have an Australia-Afghanistan Test from the 21st.
Before that we have a Northern Hemisphere (and Fiji) rugby tournament to keep us happy, Ireland currently 25-9 up on Wales.
