True & thanks. I was thinking that too (8-43 and all that) – but, from the bit I listened to this morning, Bob’s name didn’t even feature!!!

Very sad, he was a very entertaining batsman to watch.

His square cut was great to watch, except for any fielders in the way.

England wins the toss and bats first, not a cloud in the sky. You blokes need to wake soon or else you could miss it. :upside_down_face:

Watched from the start. Starc aside it looks fairly easy. Complaining about the ball is always a sign the batters are getting on top!

Early days, but you might regret leaving out Lyon.

Pete, hoping you are well

Best Wishes

I’d be reluctant to make any big calls we all know how quickly it can turn around.

Think most Aussies would be happy to least make it to day 3.

We here have to grab any positives we can. Two tickets makes 100 for 4 so all to play for after ‘tea’. Or Lunch. Whatever.

Another good start then! But, it seems, some knuckling-down is in progress (I hope).

Soft ball, dead pitch, sun shining, Starc off the field. Cash-in time. Don’t give away your wicket Harry Brook.

Fair play to Crawley after all the pressure but brutal comment from Alistair Cook in the box; ‘76 and out doesn’t win a Test Match’

Duckett’s dismissal looked horrible but that is a great ball first up. Pope and Crawley more culpable.

Cook’s right though IMHO. Duckett’s ball was classic Starc – it’s either slips or pads when it swings that late. The comments on BBC’s HYS about Brook’s approach aren’t complimentary……batting like a cat on a hot tin roof!

Well, Starc the strike bowler returns. So what do you do:

1- leave the ball where possible and ‘see him off’

2- have a look at a few (i.e. a couple of overs) and re-evaluate

3- have a wipe and depart

Guess which way Brook went………

To be fair it was the latest in a series of random swipes of his bat at a wide delivery. But what do I know, I am not the number 2 ranked batsman in the world.

Hard to judge on TV but looks like difficult twilight now. Just seeing the floodlight shadows. Not an easy time for a new batter.

No excuse for Brook though. Stokes said England were going to play smarter and play situations better. Brook missed the meeting.

I’m late to this today as we were travelling yesterday.

Just seen the wickets clips on BBC.

Brook obviously thought it was four to win. He always plays the situation. Lol. Brainless.

Now not so sure about the contest Pete was predicting

I’d be happy to see Root get a ton, but l’d like to see the rest get out cheaply.

I guess you would be even happier if Root moved on to 200 then?
