Doesn’t work with the analogue preamps though. I believe this issue can just cause the system automation trigger to send the pot to full open in a matter of seconds.
Asking… I have a 552 and ND555, can I say there is no way for me to prevent and set volume limit on my side right.
There is no volume limit on an analogue volume amp.

Sorry you are experiencing this issue, I will answer your questions in order.
1. Yes, we are aware if this issue, it seems only to be affecting Android users and we have no reports of this occurring with Apple devices.
2. Yes, as soon as reports that this issue was occurring started coming in, the software team immediately got to analysing the issue and developing a patch to fix it. We are currently working with our partners at Android and will have the patch released as soon as possible.
3. The temporary workarounds we are suggesting is to firstly limit the max volume setting within the App, (this can be found in “settings” - “audio settings”) to prevent any damage to speakers. Use the slider bar on the screen or the physical volume buttons on your device (i.e phone volume buttons on side) to change volume and only use single presses of the volume control. The issue stems from the device mistakenly thinking multiple button presses are “press and hold” which causes the volume to max or min.
Once again, our apologies for this inconvenience and rest assured, we are working flat out with the Android team to resolve this as expediently as possible.

@sterremos, Can you clarify, because with yours I got the impression that it sometimes happened when you weren’t touching anything, whereas that response you copied from Naim says that [to their awareness] only happens when you operate the app remote control.
Happening when the you are already adjusting the volume isn’t quite so bad as at least you are active with the system and not, say, doing something else in another room.
In our case it definitely happened without touching anything. We weren’t adjusting the volume, we weren’t even holding the phone. The volume wheel in the app suddenly started spinning up to 100% completely on its own.
We were extremely lucky that we were right next to the Atom when it happened, because we could shut everything down immediately. If we had been in another room, it could have ended very badly for the speakers.
So yes — for us it was not related to operating the app at that moment. It happened spontaneously.
Can’t you set a max volume in the audio setting in the app to prevent it doing that or does it override that
Have you notified that to Naim following receipt of the response you posted here?
Best done by increasing volume to max that would ever be wanted and note that ans set it as max value, as 50% or any other arbitrary value might be excessive depending on the amp and speakers.
(But unclear whether this would serve to limit volume when this fault condition occurs).

That’s the idea. Also wanted to add that it’s not a bad idea do this with the Uniti series, bug or no bug. I once had the volume spun up on my Atom without realizing and had a fright when the music kicked in! Ever since then it’s been limited to 50%

I’ve set a volume limit on all my Naim gear, where possible, since day 1. If you’ve got kids you’ll know why. Replace bugs with little bug**rs and the end result can be the same when using mobile devices that are immediately on max volume when they touch the screen.

Hmms.. my ND555 Audio Settings is empty, nowhere to set any volume limit. Is this because I am using a pre-amp 552 and it only works for Uniti products?
Yes. You cannot set a volume limit for any preamp with an analogue pot. Only the ones with a digital volume or analogue volume controlled by an encoder (New Classic, Statement, 272 etc.)
That said, my kids are 10 and 8 and the hifi was always in their play area and they have never touched it or the speakers.
I’ve mostly just played loose with the big and ignored it. So far, no accidents.

Tks for confirming. While I am the only one using I want to ensure software don’t go crazy and I can prevent it. Looks like nothing for me to do now haha.
