Another vote for Sigma here. I initially changed to it when 3:8 was around and it was a total game changer, like someone had added a completely new tonal palette, better dynamics and a more natural sound. I was honestly shocked. However, it proved to be quite irksome with 3:10 as it was revealing all the issues with the FW.
3:11 has proved easier to cope with but I’ve since added an old blue 8 port Cisco, Neat 1008 to the EE8 and then the Sigma to my ND555. This really has taken the system to a new level. I’m blown away by pretty much every track I play. The musical layering and imaging is just astonishing. If someone offered me an Omega cable I’m not sure I’d swap it for what I currently have. Crazy I know!
A friend of mine with Ovator S800’s has got Omega with an EE8 and has also added a blue 8 port Cisco. He also thinks it’s taken his system to another level.
I haven’t dared to. The systems been sounding so good since the switch and 1008 introduction that I’ve left well alone. I will, at some point, switch them out just to see.
I’m running 1008 as last leg between Ansuz D2 Powerswitch and NSS 333 with 555PSDR right now. Sounds very good So good that I might buy two more so I have them all the way from wall to 333.
@Geko it would be remiss of me not to thank you for your posts describing Sigma during the firmware issues, it was a significant step up for the run between switch and streamer.
David Baker was able to provide a perfect preloved cable of the right length (6m).
@opus be aware that there is a significant burn-in/settling period, despite their factory treatment. I wasn’t at all convinced for the first few weeks.
I’m currently also experimenting between Audioquest Diamond and Neat 1008 between router and switch.
Okay, still early days but I’ve removed the Sigma and replaced it with the Neat 1008. I’m also using just one switch, the EE8.
I’ve been listening for a couple hours and have formed some initial impressions. The music on the Neat seems to lack a bit of body. I keep wanting to say it sounds a bit ‘thin’ with less tonal colour. It seems to be emphasising the bass and upper frequencies a bit more and therefore misses out on the fullness of the Sigma. The Sigma sounds far more natural and real but on the plus side the Neat is very fast sounding. There’s an ease and clarity about the Sigma that the Neat doesn’t seem to have. I’d describe it as a bit messy by comparison. The Neat reminds me a bit of AQ Vodka, which is good when you compare the cost of the two.
Running the Neat and Sigma via the Cisco and EE8 definitely gives me the best of both worlds and takes my streaming experience up at least another couple of notches. The reduction in noise is really quite substantial and brings with it all the advantages of better imaging, layering, dynamics and musicality. Running single switches and individual cables seems to make far less sense after hearing them paired.
Bit similar to my experience between my Ansuz and 1008 on last leg. I prefer c stream before switch with 1008 since it adds the body more than supra cat8. Ansuz sounds more blood, meat, body, power and 1008 more speed, definition, top end and air. I don’t hear the low end like you do with 1008 but my speakers might limit this. Cannot decide which one I prefer. I miss what the other cable has when one is in
So strange that digital cables change the signature this much. I also thought the Ansuz had a more true to tone presentation at last swap but will evaluate more. Maybe the latest software is not the best match with 1008 last leg?
