So what do you make about all my comments?
I am absolutely tanking my system on full pelt right now. Russian techno rules!
500DR is on fire!
Sounds like you all had a good day.
I presume the âwhere did it all go wrongâ for Dunc was the George Best anecdote.
Itâs great to enjoy oneâs system and itâs good you are both enjoying your respective systems.

As said Dan you could say exactly what you wanted to say, no dCS law suit coming your way, so dont panic
Itâs nice to hear nice thingâs said about yourself, from time to time, especially on here, as i have gained a bad boy appearance to some, and as you have found out, that couldnât be any further from the truth.
As for you, then i feel you are very much like me, in as you say what you think, and go directly to and at it.
Like i said to you yesterday, you have a great system, just enjoy it too the max.
I enjoyed reading your impressions Dan.
The older I get the more wary I am of listening to the pride and joy of fellow hobbyists. I assume that anyone whoâs been doing this a while will have honed their system to suit their needs and preferences. Therefore, Iâm reticent to share my opinion when the system has not been put together to please me. So I think youâve both been brave (for different reasons) and Iâm glad it has worked out.
There are no sides! At the end of the day it is hifi, and each of us wants the best sounding we can achieve with our available resources. With some that will be Naim, others part Naim, others Naimless.
There really is no point to go back down that road off why. itâs all been said.
The point off the other day was just to enjoy it, meet up with like-minded hifi foolâs, and play music.
Would be nice to know what music you played.
I know Danâs tastes from his other threads but have no idea of yours.
Just being nosey!
We played all sorts
Strange choice for August.

I also demonstrated the huge difference upsampling had on it.
From the standard 44.1 x 16 bit all the way up to 2 x dsd, and lotâs off different sample rates in between.
Mostly streaming hi res from qobuz, but a few hi res files from the melco as well.
Plus obviously the turntable.
Canât find that on QobuzâŚ
I suggest you havenât looked well enough as I found a band called The All Sorts!
I like the round blue and pink ones
Sorry only just spotted this
They are 2 meters apart.
Left speaker is 250mm from the wall, but all the pictures helped massively.
The right speaker is ruthly the same from the cabinet.
But to get it to image correctly and for both speakers to hit you at the same time i had to pull the left speaker about 30 mm further forward than the other.
Without this it just messed with my head.
But they work fantastic in my room, and much better than another speaker i tried.
I knew they could be even better with more space at the sides, but i canât.
Dan certainly enjoyed it, and so have 2 hifi reviewers, so it canât be that bad after all.
Cheers dunc
Both myself and my son Harrison enjoyed your system @Dunc.
The dCS Vivaldi was the star of the show for me. The system works extremely well together.
I havenât heard the Kudos Titan 808s before and I was impressed with the bass control.
It hasnât tempted me to change anything about my system as there is a synergy in having all Naim 500DR system that works so well for me. And of course my LP12 which is my favourite source.
Having heard the 808s and comparing to my Sopra 2s. I love the Sopra 2s and think they are a keeper. So listening Duncâs system has made me feel that I should stay put as I am. What I have all works well together. To me it feels like I am reached my final destination.
Another great review!
I am a poor tester for many reasons, but have heard a few vinyl sources that are to my cloth ears more accurate than any LP12 I have heard, including mine, some having similar strengths to a great streamer, but none has yet got my foot-tapping or my head wobbling quite as much or made me as inclined to sing along (however badly).
Similarly, I have heard amplification that scored in exactly the same way versus the best Naim I have heard (and that still excludes any Statement). However, Naim kit still wins for me against any of the alternatives I have heard for exactly the same reason that I still have an LP12 - I want a hifi in my house to play music, not a tool to analyse it, and my priority is maximum enjoyment and involvement.
That aim, and a non-infinite budget means compromises - I can live happily with mine, and quite understand how other people asking much the same questions and finding slightly different answers.
Not for the first time, it looks to me as if @Dan_M and I have a similar view.
My digital side is very different to what naim has at the moment as Dan has said.
It has everything you could hope for really and really is stunning.
