Dan's thread

You remind some movies where the hero got shot in the belly but continued to run.
You are a very strong man Dan. In your case I would probably be in my bed for several weeks.

Dan you sound like you’re recovering, what’s next for you?

Lung resection in about 5 weeks! Then all lesions are removed from my body. Right lung will have 10% removed to remove one lesion.

Surgery due at Guys Hospital, London to be robotic key hole surgery.

The liver surgery was traditional key hole surgery. Just 10% of liver was removed. Will grow back in weeks.

Please, remove it. Some, like me, are prepared to dinner now. :face_with_peeking_eye:

Thanks Gazza. I am building myself up gradually. Hope to back at work buillding in just under 2 weeks. I won’t be doing any heavy lifting.

Focus will be to walk a bit longer each day and build up core strength by doing basic domestic chores around the house. Plenty of rest, good food and gentle exercise.

I’m in no rush but I believe the goals are attainable.

The cut away liver will grow back? Cool stuff! Respect to the body.

That’ll teach you talking about the movies FR!

Maybe we need to see the follow-up photo in a few days when the bruising has largely disappeared.

You can remove upto 75% of the liver if it is generally healthy and it will grow back.

The lung will not grow back, nor will other organs, aaprt from the liver.

The 10% removal of my liver has not affected any of my liver functioning. It will reform itself, oversize itself and be like new after 3 months.

It’s a very neat job. The stitches dissolve in time. Once bruising has gone there won’t be much to see!

I’ve put him off his dinner!

What do you have for dinner this evening?

If it’s biftek bleu you’ll have no sympathy!

I reckon the lung will be more painful. The lung resection is right next to the heart. Will get breathelessness, chest pain.

But should be fine. Similar recovery time of around 6 weeks.

I had chicken for dinner! :rooster:
