Dan's thread

Thanks to everyone on here for your continued support. I am doing alright. I feel fine so was surprised and disappointed with white cell blood count. Just want to get on with it!

That’s not unexpected Dan.

While a low white cell count is not necessarily desirable, it will hopefully pick up again soon.

Certain cells are more sensitive to chemo than others, and the hope with the chemo regimes is that they’ll be more toxic to the cancer cells than your good ones, but sometimes these take a hit as well which is why all manner of blood parameters are monitored for things you might be unaware of physically (unlike for example hair loss you previously experienced). This will enable your oncologist to judge the risk/benefits of ongoing treatments and timing of the next round.

Hopefully not simply stating the obvious!

It’s probably me and unfamiliarity with the new radio software but whatever I try to play radio wise seems to redirect to that Russian techno channel! :joy:

I’ve got a fridge full of filgrastim injections that stimulate those pesky white blood cell. It makes you feel like sht for 2 days afterwards but they work.

@Dan_M Hope your week has been good and that you have a good weekend and get the go-ahead for the chemo. If I remember rightly, they like to do the test on the day before or on the day so I guess you won’t find out until the day.

Thanks Paul, blood tests are monday morning. So will take it from there. If my white blood count is still low they will have to make some decisions rapidly as to what they can do. Will cross that bridge when I come to it. For now trying my best to enjoy life!

I looked at your system Dan with Sopra 2 's
Why I mention it as years ago I went to a Naim Statement event at a hotel at Brighton Marina.
It started off with 300 DR then the 500 DR was added and the streaming side was the ND 555
I thought the addition of the 500 DR really made the Sopra’s open out even more. A hugely enjoyable system. So you certainly have a great system.
In the 2nd half a full Statement with the big Focals but I thought the Sopra 2’s with the 500 was all you really needed and more room friendly as the big Focals were huge.
A great evening out and the Naim staff hosting were a lovely friendly bunch especially Doug Graham who was guiding us through the additions to the system in the first half and had a 5 min chat with him in the interval
So if your sat at the hospital with your phone something for you to read.
And you can so relate to as you have said system at home.
Take care Ian

The chemo has been delayed but should be today. They have changed regime with 25% reduction of chemo drugs. This is due to lack of energy and low white blood cell count.

They would rather give me 75% dose and avoid further delays on successive treatments. So they couldn’t do it yesterday as pharmacy have to order it in.
