Yes if you had a dCS Network Bridge, which did upsampling then the effect of mScaler might be not be so great. I have tried a Linn DSM, Sonore μRendu, Mac mini & Asus Laptop. No discernable difference between without DSP. I prefer Mac mini & Asus Laptop because you can set JRiver Media Studio DSP so sound quality is improved and the user interface is superb using JRiver Panel.

You can measure the effect too.
If you have not tried mScaler then give it a go.
You’ll probably find your system is only giving 70% of its potential performance without it.
The mScaler with DAVE takes digital replay a step forward for me. It was really easy to install. I use Canare cables with ferrites as specified by the designer and it sounds superb. I find using a fully balanced (XLR) connection between DAVE and power amp optimises sound quality. I wasn’t as happy when I tried single ended (RCA) ICs (same is true in my Linn system). I use Canare Star Quad ICs.
When I play Anthony Phillips new CD set, it sounds as if this wonderful ex-Genesis guitar maestro is in the room.
Forget the tweaking and enjoy the music.
