Sadly, I don’t have a glass collection like @Eoink , i was admiring his glass objects in the pictures you have posted above.
The glass ball in my picture is called a “paper weight” in the UK, that is something you would use to trap a pile of loose documents on your desk. I have about 10 different ones. There is a story behind them. When my father died about 35 years ago, my mother lived on alone and when ever I visited her I would usually bring her a small gift. She was a bit of a collector of “things” including glass paper weights. I probably gave her about 20 over the years, mainly they came from a Scottish company Caithness Glass. When my mother died 8 years ago, I kept some of the paper weights and donated the rest of her collections (mainly antique glass/plates/silver etc.) to my local cancer hospice to sell through their charity shops.
Two of Elaine Wilson’s ‘Gun Women’ sitting on a 60’s junk shop find - I like the rounded corners, the shine of the formica top and I painted the drawer fronts. There’s a musical link to the collages above, an artist whom I came across via the album artwork on Justin Stanton’s Flor Peeters. Original Victorian plaster work gives lovely light and texture.
Miss Deeg’s choice.. looks nice, weighs a ton but being made of unsealed elm planks is rather impractical for a dining table since we need to attack any spills with white vinegar to stop stains. She wanted it, I chose another hill to stand on and acquiesced.
