Dedicated electrical circuits

It sounds as though we had the same conversation. I was advised that a single spur with a block would be more musically coherent than multiple spurs. So I installed a 10mm2 cable, with a 50 amp breaker, direct to a double unswitched socket. The spur has its own consumer unit and is earthed directly back to the incoming supply. It’s served me well for nearly 30 years.

It was less than 10 years ago when I spoke to Steve while I was rewiring part of the house and had the chance to do dedicated mains properly. My previous attempt was a 6mm cable from a spare slot on the main consumer unit, and that was a waste of time.

Maybe it was Adam who gave the advice. Whoever it was, it was direct from Naim.

It was Steve Hopkins who I spoke to - back in the day when you could pick up the phone to Naim knowing that it would be answered by either Steve or Phil, and that whatever question you asked, they invariably had the answer.

G’day Mitch! I’m glad to see other Aussies in the forums. I appreciate the advice and offer of further assistance. The sparky who’s helping me with this is a guy named Tony who’s also an industrial electrician from Melbourne. He’s up in Brisbane for a few projects.
