Dedicated streamer and Nait 50 or Atom

Mmmnnn

harbeths - I’ve read so much about them but never heard them , they are probably available here in Australia but limited

I’m running the Neat Petite 30 anniversary model plus the Neat Petite Classic in another system

They do it for me . I would think what I’ve read about the harbeths , the Petites would be a more “spritly “ speaker - depends what you like - but the Nait 50 would do justice to
Both of them I would suggedt

Do the Harbeths need a bit of power going through them Blacknote ?

The first time I’ve tested Harbeth speakers was the year before at the same audio show. I forgot the model to be honest, but they sounded great with the SN3. I just thought they lacked a bit of grunt in the lower spectrum, after all they are considered almost monitor speakers.

Things were different with the HL5 XD, surely they are lighter in the lower spectrum compared to other brands, but they have quite a presence, they are lively and have an exquisite soundstage. They are very clear, transparent and neutral I’d say. They are perfect for classical music for instance, but they are great with other genres too. I’d be glad to have such speakers at home, even though I prefer Totem speakers for the type of music I listen to.

With the Nait 50 these HL5 XD were full of character, I didn’t think the speakers were lacking of power (they were loud too) and I was really impressed by the Nait 50 performance. So I do wonder how these speakers would behave with a more powerful amp. If you have the chance, I highly suggest you to test these speakers!

I’ve heard Neat speakers a few years ago, I think the Motive XS2. In comparison to Harbeth, Neat speakers are punchier in the lower end but the mids, soundstage and details are not as crystal clear. The general presentation is very different.

My son is crazy about the UnitiStar with the Ascend Acoustics non-ribbon floor stander. I am giving him all my CD’s, post CD555, over time. He exited the Nova in favor of it. Ascend does sound great and is California factory-direct. Made in USA is a nice touch around here. Half the price of the ProAc Tab 10 with a free trial period. It gives the Tab 10 Signature, which I use with the Nait50, a run for the money in the bass department, and it leaves the Signature in the shade where bass is concerned in my opinion. Not as refined but not shabby either. Consider the round trip shipping the price of an otherwise free option and check it out.
