Deleting Recycle Folder on Core USB BackUp

Has anyone deleted the Recycle Folder that ‘appears’ on a Core USB backup…?

I know this has been mentioned in the past (I’ve read a few threads incl one I posted within) but there doesn’t seem to be any conclusion on the whole issue…Regardless of ‘how’ and ‘why’ the Recycle folder appears on backups, are we OK to delete from the backup…? I don’t want to go ahead if it’s going to screw with the incremental ‘syncing’ of a long running backup…

The existence of the folder didn’t bother me, but it does seem to be increasingly populated with full size files (the initial files were zero kb in size), hence growing in size…They’re from both Download and MQ folders (I’ve checked and the files are still in place in their respective locations) so I guess these files are generated from edits or some such changes, all a bit strange…

Just seems a waste of available space on the USB HDD, so ideally would like to delete…

Cheers, SC

I believe that it was me who initially noticed this & Naim said that they had never seen a recycle folder before & that they would investigate further & report back to me.

They never did &, until your post, I had forgotten about it.

I will try to find my correspondence with them about it tomorrow & chase them up.

I will reply here should I get a reply. In the meantime I think it may not be a good idea to delete the recycle folder as, presumably, the developers put it there for a reason.

Yeah, it’s all a bit weird isn’t it…

As they’d been no responses, and as I have a couple of USB Backups in rotation (one for off-site) I figured I’d go ahead and delete the folder off the external backup – worse case scenario I’d just create a brand new backup from scratch…No harm seems to have been done to the existing incremental backup (from what I can tell) and I’ve actually just performed a new backup as I’d ripped a few discs the past days…all seems OK with the backup.

However, it seems a repeatable thing. Having deleted the recycle folder earlier, after another backup, it’s back…! Smaller this time (just one track from one album is in there), but it keeps returning even if I delete…

Really not sure what’s causing it all. Always seems to be from the MQ folder. As I said in my initial post, the folder had grown in size over time and become sizeable with numerous tracks, hence my desire to delete…Now, it keeps returning after every backup, but it’s just one particular track (I’ve checked, and the track is still in place in the MQ folder)…It’s a Coldplay track – perhaps that’s why, never did really like them since their first album…!

Few pics of the backup HDD and file path to where the Recycle folder nests itself…

As promised, I found my original thread from May '23 & have posted a follow up reminder.

I will let you know if I receive a reply.
