Apologies if this has been asked before - Is there a way to determine whether my Muso is first or second gen? Reason I ask is I am trying to update the firmware using (the frankly pretty poor) app and it says its up to date with 4.3.0. However, i see discussions going on about 4.4.x. Hopefully this might help me resolve the radio service which doesn’t work whatsoever and when I try and search radio stations I get no results.
Thanks for the replies. Interestingly the label underneath my model has no mention of ‘2nd Gen’ and I think that the fins / shell is quite light but it says its running 4.3.0 and it was sold to me as 2nd Gen
Does the volume control have an “on / off” touch button at the 12-o-clock section of the volume knob?
If it has, it’s a Gen1.
If it hasn’t and you have to touch and hold the “Play/Pause” part of the control to turn it off, that’s Gen2.
Great - thats definitive - no on/off and have to hold to turn it off - Gen2 it is then! Phew. Next question is now why the radio streaming isn’t working… That is a popular subject - thanks all
With the updated firmware (which it looks like you have) you’ll need to delete any existing presets, the re-add them from the iRadio list of stations.
Naim have dropped the old provider of iRadio in favour of their own, so any old presets will no longer work.
You might also need to power down and re-power the Muso to make the changes work.
Thanks for the hints but I’m not getting any radio stations to choose from. I have recycled the Muso, reinstalled the app and removed the default radio stations. This doesn’t make sense to me and I’m technically minded.
Have you checked if connecting to it via a browser, using the IP address (e.g. http:// 192.168.1.101 ) you have any error in the diagnostic section? For mine:
It may be stuck trying to connect to Classic FM. If you tap on the bottom bar, you should get the now playing page and if you do then you can tell it to stop trying to connect to Classic FM, allowing you to back out into the home screen for internet radio.
Apologies, where are you seeing this? If I connect to my Muso’s IP address I get the dark screen with 3 options, network, overview and update. Don’t see diagnostic section at all. This is why I feel my firmware is not the latest but as I say, the app and the web interface is saying the firmware is up to date. What is interesting is that the firmware is dated 07-12-2021. Surely there have been firmware updates since then?
The current release firmware is 4.4.1 I believe. If you are still on 4.3 then that’s why the internet radio isn’t working. It can’t ever work on 4.3 because the new internet radio system hadn’t been devised back then.
If you go into system settings and then check for updates, it should allow you to download the latest firmware. As David suggests, radio should then work.
256mm. So it looks and feels like I have a MUSO gen 1 but with the gen 2 controls. I.e. no on / off on the dial just hold to turn off. Weird - I’ll contact Naim support and see what they say and if they confirm my suspicions, I’ll go back to Peter Tyson where I purchased it from and take it from there! Thanks for all your help folks.
They’ll just ask the same questions. Muso details are not stored in the erp system, they don’t go anywhere near the factory.
Just look at the sticker on the bottom it does not say gen 2. If you still have the box, that will tell you if it’s a refurbished unit.
Get the unit wired to your network, find out the ip address, put that into a browser, click the update option in the browser. Updated firmware for gen 1 to give new iradio was released February 7th.
