Discogs - tips, tricks, hacks, and help

If you’re in this hobby, self control is a trait that few possess.

Agree…SHF was place where I first learned about the difference between pressings and how to go about finding a particular issue. (It’s rowdy and spiky at times, sure, but I don’t overly mind that. Naim Forum would be similar, I think, if it weren’t run by Naim or had such a good leader in Richard.)

When I want to track down (sic) a specific pressing and mastering, I use SHF and Discogs in tandem. I’m still not sure of Discogs’ valuations though - my collection is apparently worth £££££, but a price asked is not necessarily a price paid.

I’ve not used SHF much in the past, but will definitely check it out now. Thanks for the confirmation.

Yeah, matrix is the most reliable method, I sold my collection when I moved to streaming (my own music, not a streaming service) for my rarer records knowing the matrix made a huge difference to the resale price

Yes agree, just like the Naim forum though!
