Discovered my Nac a5 is 4cm short of 3.5 metre minimum

Discovered my Nac a5 is 4cm short of 3.5 metre minimum on one side
Is this a risk?
should I replace it?
thanks
Mike

No……it’s all fine……the amp is not that sensitive. Just enjoy.

To use longer than 6 meters is a good upgrade from 3.5 m .
The sound will become more balanced with more bass.

Send them back immediately, and make sure you get black ones they sound better than white

what if I used one of each

Mike

No risk but OCD might kick in. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
My speaker cables are 3M each but both the same so that’s ok.

If a longer length would make an audible difference to the frequency response it would be less bass.

Then the sound from one channel will be blackish and from another one will be whitish.

can we still say that

No the balance is better with more bass, with longer lengths of NacA5 with Naim power amps.

Cool, I never knew Naim were able to defy physics. Impressive!

As @Igel says :point_up::+1:

I guess in HiFi physics are optional

Real world and numbers…

The distance below 3.5m equals the thickness of the veil it introduces to the sound.

Look, I think most here agree there’s things to how things sound that can’t be measured. But I would assume that what can be, especially if it’s physics 101, we don’t need to argue about.

I always understood this to be the inverse of the distance below 3.5m x π but perhaps I’m mistaken.
