DIY Vertere Redline RCA to DIN

Cannot see a difference in how the RCA and Din inputs end up on the NAC 282 circuit board. But then, i have no idea what i am looking at

You omitted the word ‘dirty’!

Agreed!

Vertere actually combines 2 Redline strands for their Redline Snaic cables. I assume that they use the two thick green wires for the DC connections that are needed in Snaics. In all other redline cables, those just carry signal.

Just to solve the Vertere Redline mystery of the added white cable on the source side: only on the source side the Vertere Redline has a resistor soldered connecting shielding and Rca connector. It has a white sheeting.
Also, here is pic of the cross-section of the cable.

Similar to what Naim is doing then (the resistor). It’s likely there is some kind of joint venture between Naim and Vertere. I believe Hiline also have a similar resistor solution and likely Super Lumina DIN DIN too then.

I wouldn’t touch any cable with componentry inside.
It’s enough to have metal content type variation but these are a no no for me what a fudge. :scream: :-1:t2:

Hello :slightly_smiling_face:…

Considering what you wrote below,.and your pictures…

“only on the source side the Vertere Redline has a resistor soldered connecting and Rca connector.”

So one of the Redline-cables you get with this “experiment” is not a genuine Redline,.as this mentioned resistor is missing…
If I have now understood this correctly.

No he cut one cable in two meaning only one part will have the resistor in one end.

:large_blue_diamond: I,.who have four Vertere Redlines, intend to avoid such experiments in any case .
The picture shows two of these Vertere Redline USB-cables for my InnuOs Phoenix USB reclocker,.in my headphone-system.

Nice. You are right, i made two cables, each an RCA-DIN. On one, the source chinch is the original Vertere configuration with the resistance. The other has the originally terminal chinches reconfigured as source. But these are of course without a resistance. TBH I do not hear any difference. Both cables sound great. But, i was unaware of the Vertere source chinch configuration when i started off. Probably would not have done it with that knowledge although soldering a resistor to the shielding is easy.

Shouldn’t you halve the resistor value?

Good point since the cable is only half the lenght now. I can give it a try. Any ideas what the effect would be of not doing that?

Just forget about the cables and enjoy using them.

If they sound good, the cable configuration, resistor value and soldering are fine.

If other people get enjoyment from worrying on your behalf, that’s also fine.

getting there… takes time to let go :slightly_smiling_face:

No idea. But as you have two, you can compare

When evaluating RCA vs DIN one shall not have both connected at the same time between say NDS and 552. Check.

But it should be OK having the dual output on NDS active and just remove the end you are not listening to on NDS and keep it on 552 right? It will just be a dead end cable connected to 552 if so.
