Does a streamer have to be in situ

I’ve done it on a UnitiLite. There is no soldering required. Look carefully at the instructions and you should be fine. Don’t forget to take electrostatic discharge precautions. I found the trickiest bit was working out how to release the ribbon cable from the connector on the Naim motherboard. Just don’t rush it!

Where will I find the instuctions? It may be that he includes them but I’d have thought it would be obvious by inspection and a straightforward case of unbolting the old screen and the usb connector from the faschia and disconnecting the latter from the motherboard and a reversal of the process to put it back. All done on an electrostatic mat and wrist strap Earthed to the chassis of course. Are the screens glued in too? I think they may well be.

Another thing I’m not sure about is if the unit requires a reset or s/w tweak once it’s replaced. Will the handset require re-pairing with the unit or not. Not sure why it should but I’m no expert on these things. The firmware needs updating anyway once it’s all back together again.

The instructions are included. No glue or anything. The new screen is mounted on a board and you need to undo a few screws to get the old board out. It’s a bit fiddly.

No there isn’t any software or firmware thing to be done. The unit’s firmware should pickup any change. If the display reads backwards, then that gets corrected automatically by any firmware newer than 4.6. But I don’t think you will see any issue. No the handset won’t need re-pairing unless you factory reset the unit and it was previously on a different code. But ask here if you run into that and someone can tell you what to do. It won’t happen just by you changing the screen.

Ah. I did do a unit reset when I discovered the screen dead so I may end up having to do a remote re-pair. In case I do, how do I do that? I’m assuming they come from the factory with a default code and the user must have reset it for it to be different. It would be useful to know how to do that anyway because at the moment I have 3 remotes for my UnitiQute2, NAT05 and preamp that cross contaminate and the mute sometimes gets out of sync between the units which requires me to get up and walk across the room and press the mute button on one or the other. So tiresome I know  Something I’m sure I could simplify with just the one controller but never looked into it. Juggling 3 controllers is just a pain really. Maybe one of those 3rd party “all in one” remotes may be the answer. :man_shrugging:

It’s easy to set the unit and a remote to the same code, which can be different from the codes for other Naim units. But I’m not at home, which is where my copy of the instructions is, so I will leave someone else to explain!

There’s no particular urgency but when you are about I wouldn’t mind a copy of your instuctions and I can keep it with my assorted user guides. Thanks. In the meantime I’ll have a search of the forum and see if I can find anything.

Edit: I’ve just seen a post where you detail how to do this David. Thanks again. I’m on it.
