But it never happens…smoke and mirrors.
You are right, but I mentioned Rolex because of it’s value retention.
Not a bad investment either if you pick the right model, typically the steel sports watches.
“Last time I checked “ are you saying you get to read Naim’s P&L statements?
Their 2017 revenue and profit is on Wikipedia, £27 million and £1 million respectively: Naim Audio Limited: Annual Report and Financial Statements, 2017: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/01116428/filing-history/MzIxMzIzOTgzM2FkaXF6a2N4/document?format=pdf
I’ve been spending money on Naim since 1995. I’ve never lost money on selling to upgrade. Kit is fabulous and thrills me every time I listen to my music. Been a tonic over that last few months. Worth every penny I’ve spent.
Haha, now I finally know. Very unassuming front. May be so to keep the price down. Perhaps I should drop by one day.
Good thing deals @Naim.Marketing mentioned are there.
Drop by where?
It is in Melbourne at Fairfield.
for me the hi-fi for sure. I dislike travelling very much.
that old nait 2 has been replaced by a Mu-so.
you get a source, streamer, amplifier and speakers. a lot more than the nait 2
I could easily replace all my expensive naim hi-fi and just live with a mu-so 2 and a qb.
I only listen to music for enjoyment, never for the hi-fi.
I’m of the same mind regarding holidays. I’ve been many places when I was younger, but now that I’m retired, I’m very content staying local.
If I lived in a place that I always had to get away from every year, then I feel a bit like I was living in the wrong place.
I guess this is just me being weird again, but travelling does have it’s ups and downs, and I’ve have plenty of excitement in my life.
yes, that’s a fair point.
But then when the pound is weak, it should make Naim more competitive in markets that operate in USD, but Naim has pricing in Euros, Dollars so we cannot really benefit from the weak pound?
the other issue about travel to new places is that the novelty is gone, anyplace I want see it available on youtube…
Yes, that too. Much of the wonderment is gone, or at least reduced …
Which plugs is naim using at the speaker end ?
Does that apply to speakers as well?
Any idea how much the current owners paid for Naim?
If they really are “venture capitalist” they aren’t going to be pleased with flatlining profits.
Its relative I suppose, but I think Naim is a fair value. I felt the XS3 was easily as strong of a value as the Rega Elicit R. I sold audio for 20 years, and I can think a few brands that I felt delivered far, far less for the dollar spent. We were dealers for a Japanese vacuum tube company who’s name rhymes with Bear Fight. Their smallest power amp started $10k and wasn’t a whole lot better than the Prima Luna at 1/3 the price. Their next model up was quite a bit better than the $3k Prima Luna, but it was also seven times the money. I thought the stuff was incredibly expensive for what it was.
