WBA’s are no push over!
Buyers Remorse - who knows !!
What I do know though I’ve landed in a great spot with the 333/332/250 combo along with the LP12 Klimax , and that’s the final step for me as I’ll hit retirement at some point over the next year or so.
As I live in 2 places, the question remains over the “lesser” system and like you I’m spending more time on the physical gear ( CDs and vinyl) rather than the NDX2 so down the line I’ll offload that. Some 2 years ago I didn’t have any streamer so maybe one can say I went over the top in that area.
The other great piece of Naim gear I’ve been lucky enough to be alive to experience is the Nait 50, so that’s going nowhere.
Music has always been a big part of my life right from early childhood as mum and dad played the piano and I took lessons for 10 years ( didn’t get bashed up by other guys as I was also in the rugby first 15 at school!!) and my 2 brothers played guitar and clarinet.
@Bevo i am confused by your post. You refer to a 333 and an NDX2. Do you have both?
When I do front crawl/freestyle, I’m normally too busy ploughing through the water and timing whether to breathe on the fourth, sixth, eighth or 10th stroke to think consciously at all.
When I do breaststroke, which is more relaxing, often I just look around with a fairly vacant gaze, and sometimes go into a reverie, or think about an issue that’s on my mind, or a puzzle haven’t sorted out in my head.
I have to confess that my backstroke is a ‘froggy’-type stroke with hands and feet, and I try to time my breathing in through the nose and out of the mouth to go with the stroke itself.
Overall, I now associate swimming with thinking how enjoyable my current system is, and looking forward to getting home and listening to some music inter alia.
@HungryHalibut Thanks. I did not realize he had multiple systems.
Do they sound significantly better than Qobuz streams?
Hi Jaybar - yes I have both in 2 locations 100km apart
The 333 is a cracker highly recommended
I wouldn’t say significantly. Cloud streaming has more parity with NC streaming. It’s harder to discern local from cloud for me now.
@Bevo i too have a 332/333/250NC System and really like it. I also have the NVCTT Phono stage/NPX300. It is very good I can’t think of adding anything else. I started out with a SN3 and ND5XS2. I did a LOT of upgrading in two years. The only future upgrade might be going from MM to MC for my P9TT when my Exact dies. Given how infrequently I use the TT, I am in no rush. Hopefully with no upgrades planned, I can learn to focus on the music. I stopped at Chord Sarum T interconnect. I think their Music line would sound better, but it is more then I want to spend on interconnect.
my only regret was doing one thing at a time. At the time I started with Naim, had I realized where I might end up, I could have saved some significant $$$, if I had done everything at once, rather then incrementally—particularly since I had the funds. While my dealer gave generous trade in, it would have been better doing everything at once. I am not faulting my dealer. My initial conversations with the dealer centered on creating a system that matched my previous Rega system in cost and adjusted for inflation. I gave no thought in the beginning to where I might end up.
…bikes…cars…wines…whiskies…computers…
bikes? never
cars? maybe
wines? yep, with you there ![]()
whiskies? definately, but I only receive them twice a year - birthday & Xmas
computers? used to be - my degree is Comp. Science - and for years I built all the family PCs. But these days CBA, so I “spec ‘em” but get third parties to build them….but even that can be a source of frustration coz they often get it slightly wrong.
Can I add camera gear to your list? Coz I’ve got to do something to keep me amused in my dotage!
I thought I was adding to yours😄
In further perfectionist traits…seeking out a well made ‘long black’…Asgaard does not train its baristas well.
Three out of five ain’t bad.
Why?
I assume suzywong means thrill of buying. Why would there be any thrill in that if you already exactly what you want giving thrills every time you use it?
Ah - okay maybe it means there’s no need to buy anything and get a thrill that way.
That makes sense.
My Bluray player (well multi disc really, 4K, all CD formats, SACD etc) is actually just a transport, so I use the ND555 for all sources except records. This is probably best anyway with the transport separate to the ND555. If I was to downsize though, I’d likely go for a multidisc player with an on-board DAC - something like the Magentar 900. But not today.
I can fully relate.
It’s not about being dissatisfied. It’s more about endless curiosity! ![]()
I adore eating lamb - and the Lamb here in China (sourced from Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang) is the best I have ever tasted - but perish the thought that I must eat it every single night of my life, forever!
Same goes for audio gear.
I addressed (not cured) this endless curiosity a few years back, by purchasing several amps that all meet different aspects of my sonic priorities.
Two tube amps - one based on the 6197 triode, the other triode-wired KT88s - and one solid-state gem - QUAD 306.
Also two very different phono preamps - one a superb solid-state fully flexible MM/MC, the other a high-end tubed MM only - grace our home with a high-end A23 SUT in tow. Combined with various loading plugs, this makes phono combinations almost endless.
Lastly - like cabs at a rank - a growing pile of fabulous phono cartridges patiently wait their turn to impress.
Subsequently, the options and configurations are virtually endless.
This lot keeps me out of the classifieds and allows me to experiment with mods and tweaks on one amp, while enjoying another.
Summer heat problems are solved by the QUAD, while our big KT88 amp provides comfort all winter.
My point? Quit selling the stuff you upgrade! After all, there was a lot that you loved about it, which is why you purchased it in the first place.
Instead, put it in the cupboard and trot it out, next time you get the itch.
Works for me… ![]()

Yes, Endless curiosity.
I listen to a lot of music on headphones. Each headphone has its characteristics, and the vary greatly. Each headphone can reveal music in a different way.
The new Hedd D1 with a carbon fibre diaphragm is tempting me at the moment for my portable HiFi. It is said to be very detailed and crisp. Being aimed also at studio users, it is relatively inexpensive, compared to a lot of cans.
Can I resist?
