Eames Chairs

Vitra recommend this brand … but at £22 it seems excessively priced … but what do I know. It’s even more expensive than the Tumi stuff. The search continues…

Is the Eames’ leather pigmented or aniline - does anyone know?

Copy here I’m afraid…

The copy looks nice, where did you get it from and how does it stand up quality wise.

I am after a chair (c£1k budget) I was learning towards a stress less chair as comfort is king, but unable/ unwilling to hit the shops at the moment.

Thanks
Gary

Stress less are well made and comfortable chairs with lots of styles, materials and sizes, perfect for a listening chair.( No Connection!)
I have a Voyager which was my listening chair in our old home, but which doesn’t fit in the new. I miss it so much, I am thinking of putting my second system into the room it is now in!

Have a genuine Eames in nero and palisander. Opted only for the chair, no Ottoman as I’m not a fan at all of foot rests. The most comfortable chair ever, it is nice but not so sure. The build quality though is absolutely stunning, as it should be for the price it costs!

Thanks Graeme, looks nice and at £799 a lot cheaper then the stress less chairs I have been looking at.
Still weighing up the two - shame I can’t test the Eames but if you are happy and think it’s comfy then it’s definitely a consideration.

Thanks
Gary

How weird (to me). When I bought mine the Ottoman was included. There wasn’t a choice of not having it. It just wouldn’t seem complete to me without it. I rarely sit in mine without throwing my legs up to rest on it. Heaven!!! :slightly_smiling_face:

Gentle BBC 1 evening entertainment The Repair Shop did an Eames chair that needed a bit of attention.

The spin-off series The Repair Shop: Fixing Britain tries to add a bit more context around themes of repairs, and included the Eames fix in a recent episode - find it on the iPlayer at The Repair Shop: Fixing Britain Series 1 Episode 3

I’m sure someone can identify the original episode with the fuller fix shown, from this spin-off.
Edit - Series 3 Episode 10, original tx date Aug 24 2018.
