Electrical noise when changing volume

I sometimes hear electrical noise when I use the remote or app of the 333 to change the volume of the 332.

I switched the 332 off and turned the volume knob a few times left and recht but I still hear it sometimes.

What can this be and should I be worried?

I’d speak to your dealer about it.

Does the volume control actually rotate on the 332 when you adjust via the remote? If it’s like the 222 then it doesn’t. So I don’t think turning it back and forth would likely help anyway.

There are a number of threads on same subject, e.g.

The old naim devices (282 et al) use an ALPS volume pot for volume control. The purpose of some vigorous left/right action on the control was to clean the pot tracks and remove any crackling. It is good practice to clean say once a month (we do this with our 252j.

The 332 volume control wheel is an optical encoder, it’s not a physical part of the volume control circuitry, instead feeding the microcontroller.

If you’re changing volume on an NC and getting electrical noise I’d be talking to dealer about it. Does it also make noise when you use the 332 wheel?

Thanks for the detailed info.
I haven’t tried using the wheel but I will check it.

It is different as mine is a NC device.
