End of my tether

Well indeed. Once I’ve got my XPS2 back off my dealer my intention is to move it on. I suspect I could also move the 202 on leaving the TT2 into the 200 (not sure what cable would do that) albeit that overall I’m no bette off as there’s still an impedance mismatch between the 200 and the Zu.

Don’t say MIke didn’t tell you!

I’m going to post every 6o days or so just to keep it ticking along :slight_smile.

To be fair the journey is far from over.

The journey might be far from over Mike, but at least you are no longer at the end of your tether :sunglasses:

Sat here listening to Shostakovich doing jazz followed by a Youssou N’Dour album. Latter is a revekattin. Never heard it sound this great on my my CDX2. Legs and arms been bopping away whilst sat down and a stupid grin on my face.

Have now lost count how many consecutive nights Mrs. H. and I have been doing this but goodness, whilst I knew I’d lost the joy, I’m not sure I’d really appreciated how much joy I got out of this.

Don’t forget however that your Cdx2 was very very tired, 17 years old.
I had the Cdx2 / XPS 2 for 5 years before and I remember how musical and wonderfully groovy it was. My hands, feet and fingers were tapping. It had a rythm to die for.

It did indeed. Nothing else like it in the Naim range for better or worse.

So you’re not at the end of your tether. You are an enthusiast enjoying his system, with a further upgrade planned sometime in the next year, just like thousands of others. Just making sure I’m getting it.

Upped the TT2 voltage in AMP mode to 2 from 1.5 to see whether there is a positive difference. The leap from 1V to 1.V was huge. This is largely a leap in vocal clarity but with perhaps a slight thinness to the sound. I may switch filters from 3 to 4 to see if I can balance it out.

Never thought of myself as a tweaker previously.

I appear to have quietly stuck with filter 4. Nicely covers known deficiencies. Next step in the journey tonight as a flight case arrived into which I can place 1,000 CDs. It appears that placing the covers/booklets in there means I won’t get 1,000 in so those are going to sit on the CD shelving for now.
