It’s connected to my Netgear GS108 switch. Adding the Phoenix Net didn’t allow me to remove the 108, so they’re daisy chained. PN is last in line prior to ND555. I don’t have an etherREGEN.
I had planned to demo a Phoenix Net last month but took advantage of a low hour well priced s/h 555PS instead. So I’m holding off for now. Our good weather has begun so my outdoor hobbies take precedence now but I’ll probably demo the Phx Net over the holidays. It sounds like praise of the Phx Net is universal among legacy streamers and current platform alike. Has anyone not liked it?
If it works for you that’s great, regardless of any theory about what should or shouldn’t work. I’ve used a few of the original versions and didn’t think they were anything special but I have no experience of the X.
Might be worth trying one on sale or return unless you already have something superior, e.g. LPSU.
My system is powered by switching supplies so I don’t automatically assume they are all bad!
I’ve been using the iFi Power Elite which is the next step up from the Power X. Mine was basically free(gift card) and I won’t be replacing it anytime soon. It took a week or so to sound great but I’m very happy with it powering my EE8 Switch.
Wonder how much difference there is between the Power X and Elite?
I wish I could help here, I didn’t compare them. I got mine from Amazon(gift card) so it could easily be returned.
Blimey that’s an expensive gift card. Some one likes you a lot.
Silent Bonn launched his new streamer, the Munich. I would not be surprised if Chord adapts it , like he adapted the Bonn 8 switch.
I think it was the other way round FR.
The other way? Like first Chord switch then Silent Bonn adapted it?
Bonn, then Nuprime and Chord followed. Same with the 16 switch.
I know, but I didn’t understood why Dave said “ it was the other way round “
Ah I see. Your English is a lot better than my French !
Finally got an EE8 - superb upgrade.
Preloved and £299!!
I’m a believer !
I demo the EE8 right now and so far I have lot of doubts. I don’t hear any difference compared to the direct internet wall socket connection with a simple UTP cable. I connected the EE using AudioQuest Cinnamon UTP cabling that I received from the shop to try also. But if things doesn’t change (running in now) the shop is going to get the stuff back.
I am playing Tidal Hifi to a ND5 XS2 streamer to a Nait XS3 amplifier connected to two Celestion 300 transmissionline speakers.
That great news, in that it’ll save you some money.
No difference at all? Improvement or not is a different matter but not hearing any difference when adding a switch and different cable(s) would make me itchy at least…
If you have a broadband hub that already has a good quality full duplex switch set, then I’m not really surprised.
You might hear some improvements if the switch also connected to NAS & other stuff, but streaming web audio is not working hard.
