In fact I would go so far as to say (though perhaps it isn’t surprising really) that my system is sounding really fabulous at the moment. So much of a get up and dance vibe - so musical with excellent timing of everything, the music all of one piece and yet with many different discernible strands. I won’t be dancing (obviously ) but this is about the most get up and danceable sound I have ever heard. Fabulous. Really fabulous
Thats nice to hear Tim, its not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things for such a positive result, just think what a better psu would do for it😉
Tim, can you remind me what power supply you are using with your EE, please. Is it the standard PS that comes bundled with the EE?
Yes it is. I had no idea I had to upgrade the power supply
You only need to do that if you are an obsessive and fabulous isn’t fabulous enough.
You don’t have to
It’s just, another, option some to consider.
I am obsessive. Well a bit.
I hadn’t seen that people were upgrading the power supply on these. Already have six separate power supplies on my main system (one in the study). Most people would think that’s enough.
Not sure if I will look at this now - next year am going to try the melco switch. A friend has got an upgraded supply for his melco switch so I may borrow one then to try on the EE and the melco switches to compare them then
I’ve found the relatively inexpensive iFi 5v “wall wart” power supply is a significant upgrade to the EE supplied one. Worth a try, and returnable on Amazon.
Going by the listening experience for linear PS and switches thread you might do just as well trying the Buffalo switch at a fraction of the cost.
Most people here with Naim big system are obsessive, never think the word “enough” exists in the dictionary … including me
Just been looking online - doesn’t appear to be available in the uk at the moment (cost £94 ish) but can get from Japan via eBay for £150. Have left email address with ebuyer requesting contact when back in stock. Has to be worth a try
I’ve just bought the 8 port version for less than £60 incl. postage
we will see what it brings to the table
I assume you are referring to the Buffalo BS GS2016 switch. Does that price include a power supply?
When I looked it seemed to have an AC mains power inlet, pretty much like a Cisco switch.
Interesting i briefly looked at the 16 port version which had an AC inlet? Be interesting to see what you think of it.
Ah, the 8 port version, thanks.
As Gazza says, be interested in your thoughts on any SQ benefits.
SQ benefits!
Of a switch?
You must be mad.
